Per CDOT: Chain law all commercial vehicles
US 285 Northbound / Southbound Antero Jct-Fairplay-Jefferson (South Park) (Milemarker 183-198)
Chains all commercial vehicles, including buses, vans 16+ capacity because of snow. All CMV must chain up. Restriction began April 17th, 2013 at 4:11pm.
Just heard from a friend Hwy 285 between Richmond Hill Rd & Conifer Marketplace is an ice rink with cars slid off and police and fire trucks out - please give yourself extra time and be careful.
Multiple cars off road on 285. SB there is a roll over just after Kennedy gulch. Going down from Richmond saw cars sliding sideways. Also very slick between Pine Junction and Will-O-Wiso (both lanes). NB is just as bad from Shaffers Xing all the way to Aspen Park. Stay in low gear and 4WD and give lots of space.
Hwy 73 from Conifer to Evergreen is good with a little bit of ice near Conifer HS.
Per CDOT:
Independence Pass is now closed for the season on State Highway 82 over Independence Pass. The pass closure includes the area from just east of Aspen to west of Twin Lakes, approximately 18 miles. Due to recent snowfall and continued adverse weather conditions, as well as another storm in the forecast, the season closure will remain in place until late next spring.
