I feel so bad for all those people in the evac zone, and who have lost thier homes. This is all so scary.
my thoughts and prayers out to all.
Not likely at this time. I am listening to the scanner. It is still quite a bit south. Don't worry.
ProudGammy, when I first talked to some friends on Pleasant Park, Critchell Lane and Kuehster when the fire was small, their comments were - it is too far away, we've been through this kind of thing before and nothing happened. But the winds were such that it didn't take any time at all for the fire to jump, fly up the mountain and burn out so many homes. So my inclination would be to say that we are expecting big winds, maybe not as bad as initially, but still big winds and with the erratic behavior of the fire I would err on the side of safety. Across 285 just isn't that far away.
Since we have souls staying with us if it looks like there is a lot of spotting that could send the fire flying up some ridges, we will consider moving to a safer location. Our areas are so overgrown, even the best trained teams can't stop out of control fires.
The other thing to consider is the traffic jams on the hiway as soo many try to evacuate. The 2000 Hi Meadow fire immediately comes to mind. So many with their big trailers filled with furniture, animals, etc.
Just some things to consider.

I have a no dog limit in my lease, (yay have been looking for a way to help)basically means I can have as may dogs here as is legal. I'm alergic to cats so I can't take any. I have one and she is enough.
I am willing to take in a couple, (few) displaced dogs if needed.
They have to be friendly and utd with shots. I have a cat and they have to be able to ignore her. I have 2 dogs of my own so must be dog friendly, as well. I work during the day but my son and daughter are here pretty much 24-7 between the 2. I have a fenced dog run so they will be safe.
I would also consider takeing in a single mother family as well, if you have lost your home. Being a single mom/ gramma, I'd prefer only a female with kid(s).
I have a pull out couch for mom and older kids, can also set up air beds. My grandaughter would be happy to share her room with another little one.
House is pretty busy, me, 2 adult children, 1 year old baby, 2 dogs and a cat, so if you can deal with that PM me if you need a place to stay. I'm pretty broke so the only thing I ask is you be able to provide you own food (and clean up after yourself).
I would like to give a huge shout out to Channel 7 News http://www.thedenverchannel.com . Their help was greatly appreciated and they have done a fantastic job of covering this fire.
