netdude thoughts and prayers are with you and the other families.
ok, I think i am creeping myself out. In spite of all the human activity around the house, when I go outside to check for smoke in our local area in Bailey, there isn't a bird or wildlife to be seen. Unusually quiet. I know it has happened with other fires but they were closer. As the bird flies this one isn't that far so maybe that is why?
Thanks for the other links. They are very helpful.

Does anyone know where these homes are located? Right off hand I am not recognizing them.
These are one the east edge of the burn area.... The road they are on is Eagle Vista... about 4.5 miles up Kuehster Rd. my house is on that same line, maybe .8 miles north/northeast.
Thanks for all the thoughts folks... from arial shots took this am... It looks like we are OK. Fire took out a firewood rack 20' from our house and burned grass up to the rear deck... But as of this morning we still have a house... Our thoughts and concerns are with all those of our friends who have lost their homes... and with the family of the one we lost...
Awesome news. After reading the post last night from you, I couldn't sleep thinking about what would it mean to my family to suffer the same. It is nice living up here, but it can scare you at times.

If you are out and about please post your pictures and eye witness reports with us. Thanks for all your help in reporting this fire. There is a special place in heaven for you.
About 1 p.m. when I was out walking looking for smoke in very quiet Bailey, from a good vantage point I watched smoke kicking up in many different places of the fire. Some of it was creeping back up Kuehster. Slurry bombers made some drops on the fire. I am sure they are working the Kuehster Rd. area too but these particular drops were further away.

The smoke that was just kicking up spanned a large area. And since smokes/fires seem to have their own weather I wasn't surprised to see so many. Killed the battery in my camera or I would have taken some when it was more active. Picture taken from Bailey so not a real close up.
I have spent some time rock climbing in the area so not surprised to see a pre-evac coming in.

Just in after evacuation today. Went up Kuester a ways. Looks okay for as far as we were, which wasn't all that far. The further in, the worse it gets, I was told. Lots of folks staying put, and lots of folks evacuating. We were turned back twice today by people in the newest area to be declared a 'standby evac area'. Anyone in those areas, please call Animal Control when you are ready to have your livestock and/or small animals removed, and not before. You will be added to a list and we will come to get you as soon as possible. Off to do my own chores before heading back out. Everyone, be safe, and thank you to all who are working so hard!
