I overheard someone here at work talking about last night. He reall was talking about how he had been at the vigil and wished he had taken some elk jerky to pass around.
OMG - I just cant believe I work where this is actually being discussed. :faint: :rofllol

There is a candlelight vigil at 5:30 p.m. in Boulder to 'celebrate life' of the elk killed by a police officer.
That's a bit silly, yep only in Boulder.
I wonder if those same Boulderites would hold vigils in Craig, Walden, or Gunnison in the fall? Plenty of dead elk in pick ups and trailers around town, very often with out of state plates.
Grady,, I would love to see them try that i Craig..... Those guys have guns... Boulder doesn't..
I know this is bordering on obsession but I still cannot believe this.

Atheists trying to sing amazing grace dont' even know the words. Now don't get all worked up. I am just kidding. I can't help it. This seems so ridiculous to me.
I hold a vigil of sorts for every animal I harvest, mostly while I process each one in to tasty morsels, and again while I cook the parts, but always when I enjoy the harvest with my family and friends. I appreciate what nature provides, I consider myself lucky when I'm in a place to harvest food on the hoof, wing, or fin, and ensuring that every part of the animal is utilized to the fullest extent possible honors the animal (IMHO). Plus they taste good!
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

On the news this morning they were saying that the off duty cop who picked up the elk. Had called in sick for his shift that night and coincidentally just happens to run taxidermy business on the side. A quick Google search finds trophy elk mounts for sale at about $5000. Let’s see a freezer full of meat, plus $5000 split 2 ways, one has to doubt that this was a spur of the moment event.
