How can a newborn have a religion? I was born to southern baptist parents....but I have never been a member of the southern baptist church, it would have no meaning to put it on a birth certificate. I have never seen the religion of the child listed on a birth certificate.

I don't see where this is race based. Some circumstances were questioned. Family members misspoke. Proof would have been easy. Instead, a wall was put up. Obama's handlers must have known that would only throw gas on the fire.
There have probably been other presidents that have a short form birth certificate since that is what is customarily provided by states when you ask for a certified copy of your birth certificate, the question then becomes why was it good enough for them, but not for Obama? uh....nmysys, this was my rebuttal earlier which you chose to ignore.....because Obama seems to have been singled out, there could be questions as to the motive for those who made the original objection to birth place, and for those who continue the fight years later. I am saying nothing about the validity of the fight, just asking what the motive is and if it could be that were Obama white this would never have been on the radar.
I'll just wait here patiently till outdoor posts that I am calling Trump racist again, or calling someone else racist, or that I'm just thinking it, or that I thought it yesterday....

hers...or the parents? is she still the same religion as her birth certificate says? sorry....I'm just curious, it seems so strange to assign a religion to a little baby. Maybe it's put on there if after a child is baptized? or christened?
I don't know why Yuba City, California did this in the 1960's, but I know it is there.
And she is still the same religion as the BC states. Maybe they did it so if the baby got sick or deathly ill, they would know which religious official to call or where to bury the child.

I was born before WW11 and my religion is listed on my Birth Certificate!!!
When I needed a copy of my Birth Certificate when I enlisted in the Army I received a Certified Copy of the Original Complete Birth Certificate not a Certificate of Live Birth.
I was born right at the end of WWII......no religion is on my birth certificate. When I needed a copy of my birth certificate to get a passport I got pretty much what Obama got....a short form certificatation of live birth, it was good enough to prove my citizenship. This was New York state. My husband was born before the war in Colorado....his birth certificate is even shorter than mine......and no religion noted (I had to go look because I was curious).
I wasn't questioning if it ever happened, was just curious why some states would feel it necessary.
I was born at Fitzsimmons. When I needed a passport I received a certificate that looks exactly like Obamas. This kind of craziness is why I changed my affiliation from Republican to Unaffiliated. it's embarrassing to see adults behaving this way.
