This is my first Mother's Day without my Mom as well... I'm concentrating on helping my kids make it a great day for my wife to avoid thinking about it.
<looking upwards> Love ya, Mom.
Now, I'll return to my normal avoidance and suppression of grieving emotions...

I feel for you. But, that hurt just never goes away, it only becomes a little more acute with time. That is my experience since 1993. Hope that your family provides you with much joy in the living. The journey is what is important and memories are precious moments to hold onto forever.
(AP) CAIRO - Al Qaeda on Friday confirmed the killing of Osama bin Laden and warned of retaliation, saying Americans' "happiness will turn to sadness."
The confirmation came in an Internet statement posted on militant websites, signed by "the general leadership" of al Qaeda. The announcement opens the way for the group to name a successor to bin Laden. His deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is now the most prominent figure in the group and is a very likely contender to take his place.

(Ruck and Staples (1994: 170) have pointed out that the chthonic creature's reaction was botanical: upon cutting off each of its heads he found that two grew back, an expression of the hopelessness of such a struggle for any but the hero. The weakness of the Hydra was that only one of its heads was immortal.
