Both of them were German heritage - my grandma was first generation born here - and that haircut seems to have been popular with women of that age during that time...

I'll show you the pic of their wedding day when I can get back in my other computer - I believe they were married in 1933 - my grandpa's brother married my grandma's aunt the same day - they were just a couple years apart in age.
