Thanks to all you great men and women who serve this country!!!
I like visiting Ft. Logan Cemetary. I don't think I know anyone buried there, but it is very nice place to pay respect, wander and shoot some black & white or IR photos.
Uncle WWII POW, brother Navy, Dad 30 yrs Army, son presently on active duty US Army getting ready to redeploy to Afgan, myself 20 yrs Navy. Thank you to all of you
My father was a medic in WWII in the Army.
My brother is a Viet Nam Veteran (Air Force)
My son is an Iraq Veteran (Marines) and is currently serving in the Texas National Guard
Our Godson, Thomas Jonathan Slocum, was the first soldier to die from Colorado in the Iraq war. March 23 2003. He is buried at Fort Logan. We love and miss him every day.
Rest easy Marine.

"FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.
I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
and then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of taps one night,
when everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington..
No freedom isn't free."

Dad- Career Air Force flying 27 different aircraft but specifaclly f86-D's in Korea and F-105's in Vietnam, almost an astronaut in the early 60's, and his two older brothers fought in WW2 Germany, one was a big decorated Army hero of some sort and the other was a POW there. Btw- He said he was treated great in the German Prison Camp. Officers did'nt go to concentration camps, they went to Hogans Hero's type of camps where they played all kinds of sports, put on shows, planted gardens, drank beer, etc etc etc..

I will be praying for your son. I just want them all to come home. Maybe your son knows but I'm confused as to why we are still there. Most military personnel say there is no way those barbaric tribes will ever stop fighting. And thank you for your service it's so nice to have you home! And it's nice to know we have some real men living close by- just in case then we could kick some ass!! But doubtful anyone would have the balls to attack us here in Bailey!
