Republicans vote to allow gun sales to terrorists

In a video released on June 3, Al Quaeada spokesman Adam Gadahn stated:

"America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check, and most likely without having to show an identification card. So what are you waiting for?"

The AP reported that at least 247 people with terrorist ties bought guns in the US legally last year.

The Democrats introduced legislation that would prohibit gun sales to those with strong ties to terrorism. http://quigley.house.gov/index.php?opti ... cle&id=487

The House Republicans voted this amendment down, preventing the FBI from stopping gun sales to those with known strong ties to terrorism.

Guess what, you can't buy fully automatic firearms at the gunshow! Your Arab source is just as suspect as the rest of your post.

Another point to consider, these guys come from countries awash in automatic weapons and could smuggle them easily into this country. In fact, state sponsors of terrorism like Iran and Syria can use diplomatic pouches to arm terrorists in the US right now.

Much ado about nothing.

Ever been to a gun show like Tanner? You have to have background checks to buy even semi-automatic weapons and I can assure you the tables selling guns would be profiling to the utmost if an Arabic looking gentleman tried to buy a firearm at their table. People with Federal Firearm licenses face major penalties letting guns into the hands of the wrong people. And most private sellors realize you would serve major jail time if you sold to a improper person, just ask the guy who sold a gun to Klebold and Harris.

and there's no reason we shouldn't be able to stop a terrorist from buying a dangerous weapon in the United States

If memory serves me correct, the attackers from 9/11 used box cutters - which while not allowed on airplanes anymore - are widely available with no identification at your corner hardware store......

I really don't have much patience with the liberal impulse to regulate guns.

Incidentally, I'm likely one of the 250 people counted in their statistic (my name and birthdate match another person who is on the watch list - and I provide a special number each time I board a plane to get around that). I can assure- although my name/birthdate match someone on the list (other than me) - I'm not a terrorist - but I have purchased a few items that go bang (legally - after being run through the system).

Gee, not a single response to rebut, just simply attacks on the poster. PS, so you have no problem calling me out, but when constant whine against "libs", "libertards", and posts such as those by outdoor338, RTT, TPP, Viking, etc. railing about the latest "outrage" by President Obama go without comment. Hmm, smacks of hypocrisy does it not?

So tell me, are you for allowing those with strong terrorist ties to freely purchase weapons in the US to gear up for a Mumbai style attack, or should the FBI be able to stop those purchases? Will anyone dare to respond or simply attack me for a legitimate post?

Are you all denying this fact

Under current law, private sellers are not required to perform background checks at gun shows, something that federal licensed dealers are required to do. By some estimations, private sales make up 40 percent of total gun show sales.

or that the video exists

The Obama administration says it's taking "seriously" a statement from an al Qaeda spokesman that instructs sympathizers of the terrorist group to exploit soft spots in U.S. gun laws
