You are a law abiding citizen, you said so yourself and I will take you at your word. Go ahead, go out and purchase an M-16 manufactured in 2002. The only way you will accomplish it is to break the law. You can buy one from 1982 if you have the cash, but not one made in 2002, regardless of how much cash you have. I've just proven to you that a law abiding citizen can't purchase a gun - can I presume you will start worrying now?
As for LAC not being able to purchase a gun legally, happens all the time as CBI constantly has misinformation regarding citizens. They get denied and then have to prove the CBI wrong in order to get their weapon.
One way or another they will continue as Brady stated till they can ban guns from the public.
1st answer - BECAUSE I WANT ONE, & IT'S MY RIGHT TO HAVE ONE!
2nd answer - Because there is always a possiblly, I'll need one,
2a answer the government NEEDS to stay afraid of U.S., as of a many years back it used to belong to the people.
3rd answer - to PROTECT whom ever (i.e. gun Haters) from whatever.
4th answer - don't know but I'll bet a red squirrel would turn into red mist. Getting really tired of using the .22 shot rounds. True the foxes wouldn't like me any more but we're not supposed to feed them anyway, correct?

Until they put you on the watch list.
As you all are so fond of saying, "If you aren't doing anything wrong; if you don't have anything to hide, then___________________________" (Isn't that the standard Righty response when someone says anything about warrantless government eavesdropping and surveillance?)

I would add they are fun to shoot. (or so I hear) :Whistle
Don't know about you, but I don't WANT a terrorist to be able to buy an M-16 at a gun show. But I'm funny that way. I worry more about people that shouldn't have them than I do about the right-wing hysterics that are afraid that if we screen out the bad guys, some "good guy" (who only beats up his wife from time to time) might be denied one.
Not really, but most of the guys I know that scream about their "right to guns has been taken away" are generally ones who end up losing the right as the result of domestic-violence charges. It is what it is...
I don't hate men... I think everybody should own one... (They're great for vehicle-maintenance and lawn-care...)
Alot of LEO's should/are on watch lists as they do have DV charges and some convictions.
Terrorists don't need to go to shows, are government made sure we stocked them years ago with weapons, and the weapon of choice for most terrorists is the AK.
