Why scaring grandma won't work

I spent 12 years in that state and I can't say I was impressed with the performance of any of their Governors (Democrats included).....do a little research, a Texas governor is more of a figure head than a working politician.

It is mostly because of illegal immigration. read this article.

http://www.texastribune.org/texas-educa ... -diplomas/

In a ranking of the 50 states plus Washington, D.C. in educational attainment, Texas was all over the map: 51st in high school (79.6 percent); 22nd in some college (22.6 percent); 44th in associate’s degrees (6.3 percent); 31st in bachelor’s degrees (25.3 percent); and 36th in graduate degrees (8.3 percent). The leading factor driving down the state’s rankings has little to do with the quality of public schools and everything to do with the rapid rate of immigration, said Alan Berube, senior fellow and research director at Brookings, a left-leaning policy think-tank.

Many Mexican and Latin American immigrants “came to Texas as adults. They didn’t come there to finish high school. They came there to work. So that depresses the indicator,” Berube says. Further, the wide gap between high school and college attainment indicates a relatively large percentage of Texans who do complete high school go on to college, with many graduating, he says.

The same trends can be seen in California — the other huge state with rapid growth in immigration — with an even more severe spread between high school and college attainment. The sunshine state ranked 49th in high school attainment, yet 15th and 16th, respectively, in the percentage of adults with bachelor’s and graduate degrees.

In addition, the rankings can be deceiving because almost every state in the nation is clustered between 80 and 90 percent, so the state ranking last isn’t necessarily so far behind others ranking much higher. “But somebody’s got to be 51st,” Berube said, “and it turns out that’s Texas.”

nice spin by someone with reason to make excuses...I'm not buying it. But I'm quite sure you will believe it because you want to, otherwise Perry might look a little tarnished. Really.....I have read enough about Gov Perry to think even Sarah Palin would be a better choice.

......and we all know what I think of Palin.

Agreed. Archer tell me what he has done that you are happy with. And if you say the failed stimulus or the health care joke that he has had to give hundreds of exepmptions to for unions who don't want it after fighting for it, or all the states that are opting out of it or fighting against it, then you have just pointed out two huge failures. Try something else if you can find anything. Anything.....really!

I think a better question would be, what republican has three brain cells to rub together.

Um, I know. I was suggesting what I thought is a better one. In answer to your question, not since the early 90's when we gave them a chance and they sold out the country. The only thing I can say in their favor is that they are not quite as evil, corrupt, or stupid as the dems. Sometimes I wonder about stupid.

Another great ad for Rick Perry. Just look at the stats. Other than education which they are only percentage points behind being in the middle of the pack if not better, he has Texas on top with almost everything. And they are working on that and illegal immigrants are keeping them towards the bottom.

I've noticed much of the same old rhetoric from the Left here. To solve the debt/budget issues decrease spending while increasing revenue. Yes the gubmint need only take more from taxpayers to increase revenues, but how do they propose this in the real world private sector? Do we just take from neighbors that have more than we do? Have they noticed jobs aren't in abundance? For most of us not on the gubmint dole, we can only control our budget by decreasing spending and eliminating less crucial needs and wants. What is so difficult for them to understand?

The silent majority will be silent no more.
