House passes GOP’s ‘Cut, Cap and Balance’ plan 234-190

It will not pass... And they knew it... So, all they did was waste time for one of their failed "points"...

Good job... Once again, politics trumps governing and what's good for the country... Predictable...

Yeah, the libruls will never allow anything to pass that might actually be productive.

So, we continue to be screwed by partisan politics.

Yeah, and wingnuts will never allow anything to pass that might be productive, like closing loopholes on the [job creators]; corporate jets; mortgage deductions on yachts; hedge-fund manager tax-cuts; Bush tax-cuts; that might raise revenue.

So, we continue to be screwed by partisan politics.

Jf1....has any one said we can get there just by taxing the wealthy? No. Yet you and others continue to parrot that falsehood.

We need to use every tool that we can to both balance our budget and reduce the debt. Apparently only the Democrats are willing to do whatever it takes, Republicans have yet to reach that point.

Obama's vast economic experience and logic has brought him to a brilliant conclusion!

Don’t speak for the fallen

It’s tough to keep track of all the instances in which Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) has been an embarrassment to himself. Remember the time he said African Americans were better off under slavery? How about the time he described President Obama as an “enemy of humanity”? Remember when he asked the House Sergeant at Arms to start looking for Muslim “spies” on congressional committees? And who can forget Franks’ talk about impeaching the president over defending the Defense of Marriage Act in court?

But even for Franks, this kind of garbage is cheap and classless.

“You know, there are a lot of people that have sacrificed profoundly for this nation. There are people lying out in Arlington National Cemetery tonight, and I wonder what their perspective would be if they could come back among us for just a few moments. And while none of us knows that, Madame Speaker, I would suggest to you that they didn’t die so that we could spend our country into bankruptcy, so that we could weaken our nation on all fronts simply because we weren’t fiscally responsible. And they didn’t die so that we could put ourselves so deeply in debt that we sent tens of thousands for each little child born today so that they would have to carry that the rest of their lives.”

And then you have this kind of slimebag attempting to "speak" for dead soldiers in Arlington Cemetery, as if he somehow knows their "perspective", and he's got the unmitigated gaul to "suggest" what they did and didn't die for, and what in the hell that has to do with the budget talks?!?!?

The GOP doesn't need enemies when they have slimebags like this representing them in Congress... I'm ashamed for you guys... Maybe that's what they mean when they say you need an "apologist"... If I had a moron like that speaking for my party, I'd be apologizing all over the place...

I agree with your first statement, but it seems that the R's are the only ones who have proposed anything along that line.

And, for the record, I am not either R or D.

You coulda fooled me....you post like a conservative, and I can't recall you ever criticizing the Republicans, only the Democrats. I could be wrong, but that sure is how it seems to me.

Seriously....the Dems have offered to cut spending and increase revenue, the Reps only want to cut spending, Obama had a plan to cut 4 trillion from the deficit, the Republicans only 2.5 trillion. I have not seen the Republicans be willing to raise more revenue through allowing the tax breaks on the top 1% to expire and cut some loopholes out of the tax code. Any increase in revenue the R's have proposed has been through spending cuts....a little smoke and mirrors there......why are they against cutting 4 trillion out of the deficit.....why stop at 2.5.......who looks like they are more serious about attacking the problem?
