I didn't watch the speech because I knew there wasn't going to be any useful information in it. I couldn't be bothered to waste my time, me and the Wundermutt took a walk in the woods instead. I remain unsurprised that no solution has been agreed upon and the 2nd of August looms large in the near term... If this is the ultimate game of highest stakes chicken get ready for an ugly head on collision.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

So since the GOP allegedly blew it we shouldn't ever aspire to rope in the debt ever? No mention of the debt the President has run up since taking office?
I'm about our Government living within its means....just like you and I have to do. I'm running on the assumption that the Republicans and Tea Party folks aspire to do this...so I support their position. Maybe we NEED a constitutional amendment just to get our lawmakers to get serious about balancing the budget.
Don't you think we ought to balance the budget LJ?
Living within their means - which means corporations and the very rich should pay taxes without loopholes. A loophole implies that you cannot pay within your means, and need an out.
I never assume that either party has our best interests at heart - especially when it comes to the budget.

Please point out which Democratic Congress handed off a surplus? Never! Republicans handed over the surplus.

I'm the victim of timing, my response was intended for Martin Ent Inc. If the left wants to play chicken then game on! Should the budget be balanced? Absolutely but let's not get there through more taxes and penalties, instead let's actually create some new jobs and increase the tax payer base instead of looking to citizens who already pay the bulk of the taxes.

EXACTLY!!! That is total common sense. That is why we have to wait till after 2012 to have a President and Senate to understand it!
