Absolutely......I think it needs to be done responsibly......simply taking an ax to spending until it is less than revenue may cause more problems than it solves. We didn't get where we are now in a couple years, and we can't get out of this mess with one simple swipe of the ax. The problem I see is that we will never get all parties to agree on a plan for our future. There are just too many political personalities involved. Neither the Republicans or the Democrats have shown a united front on proposals, only in saying no to the other side's proposals. Like that is getting us anywhere.

Absolutely but let's not get there through more taxes and penalties, instead let's actually create some new jobs and increase the tax payer base instead of looking to citizens who already pay the bulk of the taxes.
Do you, or the Republicans have any suggestions for how to create these jobs. Tax cuts obviously didn't work, or Bush would have generated a ton of them, ditto Obama who continued them. We need to get creative on revenue building, but not on the backs of seniors, the middle class, or small businesses.....game on Republicans.

I pretty much knew that was the Republican's plan.....to let the country go to hell by saying no to anything and everything that might help get us out of this mess, so they can blame Obama and win in 2012. Be careful what you wish for, like Obama inherited a mess from Bush.......you all may have created such a big mess now that you can't fix it. Sacrificing the country to win an election is not a plan.
Damn, I missed it, we were catching up on FALLING SKIES!!! Bet I had a more enjoyable time...
IMO, I'm sick of the messiah, blaming the Right for EVERY plan/suggestion, they bring the spoiled brat. Doesn't matter oblama, you get the BLAME for whatever happens it's you're TERM. STHU, and let the grown-up figure this out, go golfing, take a vacation, go to more fund raisers, (on OUR dime), LIKE all big government "leaders" GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY AND LET THE PEOPLE WORK!
One of the Obama's most notable statements was " Most Americans outside the beltway do not even know there is a debt ceiling or what it is".
Dear Mr. President, thanks for the condescending put-down. We are well aware that the Federal government is and has been spending us deep into debt, and each American now owes about $50K (each tax payer about 3X that). Its been in the news constantly for most of 2011. What planet does he live on?
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

It's the only one they have.
Still waiting for an answer on the question I asked. Let me ask it again, should we balance the US budget LJ? And if your answer is yes, then how long should we take to do it?
As for "sacrificing the country to win and election".....come on. You two had a straight face when you typed that? President Obama has proven himself a superior campaigner. He IS very good at it. However, in this time of challenge the nation doesn't need campaign speeches...what it needs is leadership. Why won't he lead us through this crisis? I think it's because he is more interested in winning another term. That's why he wants a solution that gets us past 2012...what other reason would that particular time frame be so magical.
The man never had any real executive experience and now you know why many didn't want him in office. Superior campaigner, poor leader. Since he won the election anyway I wish he would grow a set and lead.
Can't you see whats going on?..It's like watching pro wrestlin. Both sides know how its gonna end. It's gonna end with a one sentance bill raising the debt ceiling. Then they'll go back to their meaningless war of words to apease thier bases. You don't balance the budget and make fundemental changes in our world in just a few days with a gun to your head-
Your question has already been answered.... A Constitutional Amendment is NOT the solution.
Yes, we should balance the budget. Bill Clinton did it, and created a surplus in 8 years... I'm good with an 8-year plan. Is that specific enough for you?

Yes ma'am, concise and realistic. I just wondered. I don't think the Constitution should be used for such matters either. Thanks.

So just relax, nothing changes.
Sadly, I think you are right on this one.
By the way, generally you have to be the funniest poster in this room. You are HILARIOUS and really know how to stir "the base" up. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the funny stuff you stir the boys up with. Hilarious!
