Those of you who whine and cry about regulations ought to stop and realize they are often put in place because too many people fail to or don't have the sense to regulate themselves. You may have the right to do any damn fool dangerous thing you want, but you don't have the right to put kids in harm's way. I'd feel exactly the same way about a parent that let their kid die of a treatable disease because they felt it was their "right" not to seek treatment.

And the government DOES have the sense to regulate???!!!

I'm not convinced they have much sense, either, but if they regulate it at least when some idiot farmer sends his kid to his death on a piece of farm machinery they'll at least have some legal standing to send his ass to jail.

All his kids grew up on the farm and he said when teaching them to use machinery he would always state, "See this if you don't listen and pay attention you could be like me."

Hey accidents are going to happen what about the kids that get run over in the mall parking lot? I think we need a reg, people cannot take kids to the mall.

Exactly! Where are their bleeding heart stories about city kids joining gangs and getting shot at a youn age? Should they not be allowed to walk in the streets or have friends until thye are 16 or 18 now too?

My opinion of you just went lower than I thought it could. Send the parents to jail if they lose a kid in an accident. You are pathetic! THAT is UN-American at the very least! People like you need to get the F*** out of people's lives and out of this country if you don't like freedom and let Americans live a free life like they did for a couple hundred years up until the last few decades. And look where it has taken us!

Your opinion is not one I exactly treasure, anyway, Viking.

But if a kid gets killed or seriously injured because a parent allowed them to operate a piece of machinery that dangerous is NO accident. It's parental negligence.

I'd say that in most cases, the parents. But judging from some of the responses on this thread, there are some who clearly wouldn't have enough judgement. Anyone who thinks 8 year olds (no matter how "mature) should be driving farm tractors has a serious lack of judgement. And just making the excuse that it's always been that way doesn't negate or excuse that lack of judgement.

YOU are a waste of skin! And YOU clearly don't have enough judgement to run your own life. No wonder you want the Government's help. And you are as stupid as anyone on here by your statements. You say that 'Anyone who thinks 8 year olds (no matter how "mature) should be driving farm tractors has a serious lack of judgement.' Well you are a total dumbass! And you can kiss my ass!! You are not an American at heart no matter what you say. Farmers had their kids helping at very early ages throughout our history and you now think that you know better? THAT is how Americans survived. Not with a damn silver spoon in their mouth like you trying to tell others how to live with your smug arrogance and utter lack of any intelligence. You are so F*N stupid that your posts make you look like you need serious meds!

So if they allow their kid to live in a dangerous neighborhood and they get shot should they go to jail too? Or if they get killed by lightening because they were out in a storm should they go to jail? Or if they die os SIDS in their crib should thye go to jail? Or if they die of a heart attack playing basketball or they get hit in the chest by a baseball and die should they go to jail? You would have every parent in jail for negligence. Accident happen. Damn you are so government brain washed.
