Obama's Martha Vinyard Vacation

Curious...does anyone have information that Obamas vacation is costing anymore than vacations taken by previous presidents? Don't presidents pay for their own family vacation? the cost of security is probably about the same....but if you have figures showing it isn't I would like to see them.

I'm sure that Camp David would be too boring, as well as being a lot less expensive.

We aren't choosing our President based on how cheap his vacations are, we are just saying a guy who is flaunting his trip to MV while more Americans are on food stamps than ever before is showing the world a lack of good judgment.

No offense dems but you would be screaming if Bush did this.

It is not about reality it is about how it looks. He is stupid as hell for not caring how it looks. He has a million other options. And if he said no we changed our minds that would have given him some good will. And if he is so into this why not wait until the economy is better or he is not pres anymore. Either way that makes him stupid or egotistical ( I think it is the later) for doing this. The only thing he was good for is breaking the glass ceiling it seems. He is not even smart enough or caring enough to do know this ONE thing.

Just one more thing, this is similar to the wall street guys that went to a retreat after the bail out. It was not about reality, that really was not that big an issue it is about looking like you have it good when the rest of the country has it bad. Come on liberals, admit that at least that.

sorry cons, but this whole outrage doesn't wash. If this was the first time the right had whined about Obama taking a vacation, I might buy that your outrage is because of the timing......but every time he has taken a vacation with his family.......which he pays for......the right has whined and complained about it. It looks to me more about who is taking the vacation, not about the vacation itself. Previous presidents have taken vacations, especially when congress is on recess, that indicates good timing not bad. There is little he can do till congress is back in session.....and every presidential vacation is a working vacation, they don't get two weeks off from the responsibility, just from the location.

Buy hey, if you are so hard up for something to bitch about, have at it.

Spin spin spin. What you neglect to acknowledge is the fact our country is in very poor shape. Perhaps a better comparison would be to look at what a president did for vacation during the great depression. I've not researched it, but at least then we are talkig about the same thing. It's being willingly stupid to compare Obama's vacation with those of previous presidents who held office during a time when our country prospered or was much better than it is today. Also, if Obama is paying for his own vacation and it's so expensive, then he is not entirely poor is he? I doubt you or I could afford to go there even when we were making money at our peak.

Obama has taken about 60 vacation days so far in his Presidency. In the same amount of time, Bush 2 had already taken over 200.

This then begs the question, would there ever be a time when Obama could take a vacation? Should he never take a vacation during a recession?
