What I think is that our entire government is moving towards facism. It's a fallacy to think you have to have a facist leader a la Hilter in order for that to happen. Facism is nothing more nor less than the merger of business with government. Doesn't really matter if the occupant of the Oval Office believes in it or not, if the only way to get into the Oval Office is to go along with corporations who want to turn the office into an extension of their business plans.
This trend did not begin under Obama but it certainly became clear that it was becoming more entrenched after his election. A lot of people's "disappointment" with Obama is really the slow dawning that it doesn't really matter who is in the White House since he (or she) isn't really the one pulling the strings anyway anymore.

The country was ripe for change, he had the power of the people right after he was elected..He made it to the mountain top and he did'nt need their money anymore. This is truly entertaining - corporations running the government when the reality is exactly the opposite. Corporations are not running Washington, they are paying protection money extorted from them by government in exchange for government protection. The financial industry didn't go to DC and ask the federal government to allow them to lower their lending standards, the federal government passed laws that said they had to lend to those who would otherwise fail to qualify for loans and in exchange for accepting this federal intrusion into their businesses the federal government would guarantee the principle amount of the loan. That wasn't a private request made to the federal government, it was a federal edict imposed upon the private companies by a entity seeking to endow itself with plenary powers of governance.
OMG, PS, are you going to drag out that tired old (and thoroughly discredited, I might add) chestnuty whine that the government supposedly "forced" the banks to make all those terrible loans? And I suppose they forced them to dice them up, repackage them, and sell them as solid gold, too?
The fact that NO ONE has gone to jail for any of that fraudulent activity rather supports my contention that the government and business are in fact in a state of merger, now doesn't it?

...While taking out insurance (credit-default-swaps) that would pay them obscene amounts of money when the crap they sold went belly-up...as they KNEW it would.

Corporations can only influence a government that has the power to control. I wish all you liberals would come to a realization- this whole mess is a result of allowing our government to have more power and control than it ever was intended to have.
There is only one way to reverse this - only one way. It involves de-funding the control center. You all voted for Obama and then are shocked that he's a corporate whore. It won't matter - just like you said- with a government this big- this will continue to happen.
Look up the definition of socialism, communism and facism- they all have one thing in common- government control. How do we get away from that- both the left and right can get away from this by reducing the size and scope of government- and in this world that means MONEY.
Take away the money- keep it in the hands of individuals and out of the hands of government. We put the power and control back in the hands of the people.

Do you know what a lobbyist is PS? Those are guys that write legistlation, hand it over to our congressman and senators along with a lot of money, and they pass it...
Do have a lobbyist working for you PS? Corporations and Banks do and it's in their interest to have you work 6 days a week 12 hours a day for nothing. Thats their goal.
And nobody's ever told the banks what to do, not in the last 1000 years in England, and not in the 200+ year history of this country- You'd have to be ignorant of history to believe that.
