"If last month is any indication, 2012 will be a busy year.
The number of traffic citations in January was 647 - more than double the 276 citations issued in January 2011.
The vast majority of citations in January 2012, 492 in total, were issued to drivers traveling 15 to 19 mph over the speed limit, a $135 penalty.
Also last month, 94 citations of $195 were issued to drivers who were traveling 20-24 miles per hour over the limit and 14 citations of $265 went to drivers traveling 25 or more miles per hour over the limit."
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Richard Harding from Olathe, in southwest Colorado, got a $195 ticket for going 65 in a 45.
"This is definitely set up as a speed trap. I never saw a 45 mph speed limit sign. It basically leaves a really bad taste in your mouth," Harding said.
65 in a 45 and he blames the "speed trap" cops. :faint:
So what's new...
I heard him b*tching about it...
IMO he's a flatlander, (that doesn't drive, NOR know how to READ).
I drive 285 daily during the week, and it goes from 65 to 50 at the Morrison exit, then suggeted 35 up a ways at the corner then there's another sign that says "Speed Zone" ahead, then it has a 45mph speed limit sign. LOTS of warning, and besides Morrison can only patrol a smal portion of 285.
Suggestion for Mr. Harding take 70, then cut across, and STHU!.
How many residents of the town of Morrison live off Hwy 285?
None. That's how many. Their annexation and enforcement activities on 285 are just a huge money grab. They can dress it up all they want, they can put on lipstick and a wig, but they're still dancin with a pig.
"Whatever you are, be a good one." ~ Abraham Lincoln
I hit those curves and set my cruise on 48mph for the whole area, until its 55 again.
The increase in tickets is substantial, no doubt it is a trap for the unaware tourist and flatlanders. It would be hard to exceed 55 in those corners except in Pacamommas race car!
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
I have been driving 285 for many years, never have got a ticket (knock on wood) the only thing that really scares me is falling rocks and bolders on 285...
KOA has been running stories about the Morrison speed traps. Do you think you would be less likely to visit Morrison to protest speed traps?
Personally I would still visit, especially Cafe Prague. I have been pulled over for speeding numerous times on 285 in my 30 year driving history, but never by the Morrison police.
