I have to give you credit Bear...you have an amusing take on why speeders shouldn't be fined for speeding. What do you suggest Morrison do when they catch you speeding....a mandatory month of jail? 200 hours of community service? If your only beef is that they are making money off the law breakers then you must have some idea of what the punishment should be. Or are your complaints about the money just a smoke screen to cover your feeling that you really are entitled to break the law without consequences?

I rarely drive 285 that far down, maybe once a month. For work on Bear Creek I am almost always in that canyon. I drove 285 two times last week and both days (Wed & Thur) there were accidents that probably were speed related.
YES, I have been afraid for my safety on parts of 285. People drive like maniacs through there and it is one of the most dangerous stretches of roadway in this area. If the chance of a ticket deters people from speeding and causing accidents which could injure me, I am OK with that.

Sorry VL..this battle is just a small example of a bigger problem..
Some people just don't think the laws apply to them...and that is a battle worth fighting.

It's only a trap or a trick if you fall for it. And you will only fall for it if you break the law. Seems pretty simple.

I consider the Morrison Police to be two bit facsimiles of real law enforcement- these cop wannbies also buy into the policies of the town and are the front line agents for the bad policies. If they were real cops they would be more interested in doing what real cops do- solve crimes and in general act for the public interest- you know- protect and serve, not write traffic tickets to commuters with the majority of their time.

In order to justify their salaries- this is what they do (in addition to eating jelly doughnuts). It's like the lazy government employee who wastes a lifetime in some worthless agency trying to justify their existance by generating unneeded regulations and restrictions- they are willing participants in the corruption.

So yea- they didn't earn any respect and they arn't going to get any- from me anyway.

P.S. I dont have any respect for parking meter cops either- if you can call them cops- they are really just revenue collectors.

Have to disagree Bear - I have seen the Morrison Police on scene at accidents along that stretch of road as well as along the stretch of C470 that lies within the town's boundaries. Just last Thursday morning, when a Jeffco truck and an automobile were involved in an accident along the stretch of 285 that they patrol I saw a Morrison cop at the scene of the accident doing the things that police officers do at the scene of an accident. Like I said, I have no beef with the cops - they are following the lawful orders of the civilians that have the authority to issue those orders and they are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing. If there is fault to be found, it is to be found only with the civilian authority which issues the orders. I want cops that follow the lawful orders of their civilian authority instead of ones that substitute their own ideas of what the orders should actually be.

They are protecting people, from other people that drive too fast.
So what do you think IS a good deterence to keep people from driving at dangerous speeds. Why even have a posted speed limit? What in your opinion is "too fast".

nice try VL......

why can't any of you who object to having Morrison make money on your bad behavior let us know what would be a good punishment? Really......are you all saying that there should be no consequences for speeding? what's next.....it's OK to drink and drive? Is it only breaking the law if you agree with the law, but you are free to break any laws you disagree with? That ought to make life interesting in this country.
