What do you call a bunch of hypocrites splitting hairs and avoiding answering questions or addressing points.
You call them a bunch of hypocrites splitting hairs and avoiding answering questions or addressing points.
"Mods - lock this thread" hahahahahahahah
"I don't blame the police, they were just following orders" pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssseeee, let me wipe the puke from my chin.
You fishin' for Godwin's law there? Where I come people make their own decisions, it is a decision to follow orders and if you feel that the orders are not just, you are morally responsible to stop your job, esp if you are a policeman/woman. Yes, I expect any of you to quit you job if your employer expects you to take significant advantage of other people just so you can get a moderate gain. The police were just fine with ticketing you PS, they chose to right then and there. They chose to take money from your family and reallocate it to someone else's, if you feel they did it to save their job, the money was reallocated from you to them that night, and they chose you vs. many other people. Don't try to fend this off the cop, it was the cop, the cop chose to be a cop and he knew as a cop he would have to make that kind of decision and he chose YOU that night. It was just the two of you and it could have ended any number of different ways. HE nailed YOU, perhaps just because the way you spoke to him....but nice try at being Politically Correct.

Does it really matter who enforces the speed limit?
It actually does matter, and I would actually prefer the Troopers do the job. Troopers make use of the discretion afforded them by their civilian authority in deciding when, and whom, to cite for infractions of the law. They will take into consideration such facts in evidence as your previous history of driving, the length of time that you have driven without being ticketed, the conditions at the time of the infraction and the volume of traffic at the time along with other variables in deciding whether or not to write a citation. The town of Morrison, on the other hand, has revenue it wishes to raise and it uses its police force to raise it.
So yes Fish - it really does make a difference who is enforcing the speed limits and there is a difference in reason and result between the State Patrol and the town of Morrison. The State of Colorado is first and foremost interested in safety and that is evidenced in the manner in which their Troopers enforce the laws. The town of Morrison is first and foremost interested in revenue and that is equally evidenced in the manner that their police force enforces the laws.

I'd be fine with that. It's a state highway, the only reason Morrison is there at all is to generate revenue for their own salaries. The town of Morrison annexed the southern reaches of the town simply for ticket-giving potential, there is no other reason for their boundaries to be shaped the way they are. They don't deserve the money collected from fines, the State Patrol or Jeffco Sheriff's do.

Photo-fish...totally dig your avatar, whatever that's worth.
Archer...totally agree with your stance, and your persistence does not discredit your other arguments. Now, if you stomped your foot, demanded that was the end of the discussion, and whined for the thread to be locked - THAT would discredit your other arguments.
Now nobody likes "speed traps", and nearly everyone speeds at times, but we ALL know the speed limits go down through there, so like Herman Cain says, "blame yourself!" if you get a ticket there! Oh, you're such a skilled driver you can safely drive the canyon at higher speeds? But you forget about the speed traps? Give it up! Accept the law or petition to have the speed limits increased. All this blaming others or crying "its not fair :Crying: " really does appear as an attitude of entitlement. Whether your opinion is that its only for revenue doesn't matter! The end result is people slow down to avoid tickets, thus making the road safer for everyone. Judging by the number of speeders who DID get ticketed lately, perhaps Morrison PD should DOUBLE patrols through there!...clearly there's enough fools around who want to be separated from their money.
Maybe try applying some "citizens united" logic: argue that your speed is an expression of free speech?...hahaha
So does "personal responsibility" only apply to others now?
I got a speeding warning one time, it was a little town in western Colorado north of Grand Junction. Riding along a lake, curvy road 45 mph. We stopped at the lake for a break, the speed limit must have just changed to 35mph near entering town, I don't remember. We started again and I was thinking 45mph, and as soon as we take off I'm going maybe 48, and coming the other way- red lights. Dang. The cop was real nice, asked us where we were going, yadayada all the registration stuff. I said I really remember 45 mph all the way and he said it just turned to 35 before entering town. Gave me a warning and said have a nice safe trip. Cool guy! That is what citizens expect, not speed traps and revenue collectors.
I think I remember him saying if I was doing 50 he would have had to give me a ticket, I guess for 15 over, something about it was already locked into the computer. No discretion.
