June Jobs Report

I know the President would rather talk about the "big win" on healthcare than talk about the economy but at some point before the election he will have to address the elephant in the room....and I'm certain that elephant IS NOT..."gee, wonder if I will have affordable healthcare this time next year?"

June Jobs Report: U.S. Adds 80,000 Jobs; Unemployment Rate Unchanged

(Huffpost wants to spin this one positive but you just can't polish a turd)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/0 ... 53579.html

U.S. employers added only 80,000 jobs in June, a third straight month of weak hiring that shows the economy is struggling three years after the recession ended.

The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.2 percent.

The economy has added just 75,000 jobs a month in the April-June quarter. That's one-third of 226,000 a month created in the first quarter. Job creation is also trailing last year's pace through the first six months of 2012.

(I wonder when Governor Romney is really going to start talking about the economy?)

Stock futures fell modestly after the report came out. Dow Jones industrial average futures were down 24 points before the report at 8:30 a.m., and were down 60 points minutes later.
(It may turn later on today but the drop is a lot more than "modest" at the time I'm typing this being down 156 points and plummeting)

A weaker job market has made consumers less confident. They have pulled back on spending, even though gas prices have plunged.

High unemployment could shift momentum to Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. An Associated Press-GfK poll released last month found that more than half of those surveyed disapproved of President Barack Obama's handling of the economy.

(Ya think maybe the momentum will shift?)

About one-third of the jobs gained in June were in temporary services.
(Temporary? Really?)

Yes Sir...what we need is four more years of this extraordinary leadership don't you think? Not a lot of talk about the new jobs numbers in the media because it's tough to polish a turd and it doesn't look good for their man.

Who was it who said no sitting U.S. President has ever been elected when unemployment numbers are over 8%? How can the "fair and balanced" media possibly allow these numbers to come out unvarnished?

How about a high five on that healthcare bill eh? rofllol

And where is Obama? Campagining in Ohio instead of trying to push through legislation that will make jobs easier to create.

The White House explains...

It is critical that we continue the policies that build an economy that works for the middle class and makes us stronger and more secure as we dig our way out of the deep hole that was caused by the severe recession. There are no quick fixes to the problems we face that were more than a decade in the making. President Obama has proposals to create jobs by ending tax breaks for companies to ship jobs overseas and supporting State and local governments to prevent layoffs and rehire hundreds of thousands of teachers....[/i] Employment is growing but it is not growing fast enough given the jobs deficit caused by the deep recession.

Once again the population is expanding faster than jobs created.

POLAND, Ohio -- President Obama brushed past a gloomy jobs report today, saying that the economy has created 4.4 million new jobs in the past 28 months.

"That's a step in the right direction," Obama told some 350 supporters packed into an elementary school gym. "But we can't be satisfied."

"More workers joined the federal government's disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation's jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery.

The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration."

You know, this really could be cited as an Administration accomplishment don't you think? More people in the Social Security Disablility Insurance Program means more people under the Government's thumb-it's perfect!

There is a miniature experiment of the same sort going on in California right now. People are doing their level best to get on the teat. Unfortunately, now that CA has successfully attracted roughly 25% of the nation's welfare cases they are having a hard time finding enough people to actually go to work to support the "needy". Folks think it's a great program as long as someone else is picking up the tab, but it's tough to balance a budget under these circumstances. Just ask Governor Brown.

The party is just about over in California and if the nation doesn't wake up it won't be long before last call for the rest of the nation. Still many folks can't see it for what it is. Sort of like frogs in a slowly heating pot. The water was great when they jumped in but now it's starting to get awfully hot and they can't get out.
