And that, folks, that attitude is why America is not working. Winner take all, f*** the loser's attitude is destined to fail. If you continue to screw over the middle class, there is no economy. Without working together, this is a sinking ship. The lack of bipartianship, of working together to make this country great, is why the economy has stalled.
I'm quite serious about this dog....
The reason why we are in the mess today is because of leftist policy and collectivism. I'm serious. We are worse than broke- why? We tried to be a welfare state, government tried to be the answer to all our problems.
The only problem we had was government itself. Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged? The lefties like to criticize it- but it explains exactly why and how we got to where we are today. It's simply astounding how the book nails it to a tee!
For the uninitiated, the moral of the story is simply this: Politicians invariably respond to crises -- that in most cases they themselves created -- by spawning new government programs, laws and regulations. These, in turn, generate more havoc and poverty, which inspires the politicians to create more programs . . . and the downward spiral repeats itself until the productive sectors of the economy collapse under the collective weight of taxes and other burdens imposed in the name of fairness, equality and do-goodism.
Really. Do-goodism has no place in government where funds can be mis-spent, mis-managed and mis-appropriated.
And for your information dog- I don't consider the middle class to be "the losers"- but maybe you do. The middle class has historically been the winners, and that's the way I think of it.
The middle class have been losing since the Reagan administration with more and more of their earning power being subverted into increasing concentration to a few individuals. The country has suffered wealth redistribution from those in the middle and lower classes into the one percent the past thirty years.
Alisa Zinovievna Rosenbaum/Ayn Rand/Ann Connor may be worshiped by those who believe in greed above all else, but I absolutely reject her shallow philosphy.
I do have on favorite Ayn Rand quote:
"Libertarians are a monstrous, disgusting bunch of people."
Ayn Rand
Then of course:
"Faith is the worst curse of mankind; it is the exact antithesis and enemy of thought. . . . I want to be known as the greatest champion of reason and the greatest enemy of religion." Ayn Rand
And of course, Bear's favorite:
"If any civilization is to survive, it is the morality of altruism that men have to reject." Ayn Rand
I vehemently oppose the last two at least. I prefer to follow the philosophy of those such as Christ, Ghandi, Aquina and other great leaders as opposed to the shallow philosophy on a twisted individual.
It is impossible to be a Christian or of any faith or even a humanist (as I am) and be a follower of Randian Objectivism.

Seems like LJ could have said this one along with about half the DNC delegates yesterday.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I believe most of the DNC would disagree with you, particularly Rev. Cleaver and Sister Simone who were featured speakers with rave reviews yesterday. Democrats agree with the separation of church and state, they do not necessarily reject faith itself but are inclusive of those of all faiths and those of no faith.
Republicans on the other hand. . .

Nobody that matters wrote: There are only two boxes. I'm standing in one of them. It's labelled "Right". Everyone else is in the other box. It's labelled "Wrong".
It's nice to keep it simple
Why are you standing in a box???
Cuz I can close it up and it gets nice and dark and quiet while the storm is raging over in the "Wrong" box.
"Whatever you are, be a good one." ~ Abraham Lincoln
Okay, i have one comment or maybe it is more of a question. I am not being snarky I really am wondering about this.
I felt that the prayer at the DNC was odd and felt out of place, because there are quite a few dems that are adamant about the pledge of the Allegiance and prayer, God is a big argument about the republicans. It felt like a show to me. I am not trying to be a jerk, it just didn't seem to jive with the dems on this board so why did they do it? And why didn't anyone complain about religion being shoved down their throats.
You know most of those socialists were holding their nose during those prayers.
Much of the "left of center" folks are like LJ- they don't believe in god. I found it ironic that any high level christian would agree to be part of the convention given the official pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality and anti-christian policy of the Obama admin and the democratic platform, not to mention the anti-religion comments towards catholics and jews we have heard from the democrats in the last 4 years.
I wonder how people like LJ feel about all the prayers- and all the references to god and country. God bless this and god bless that- it had to make many of them feel like kunta kinte at a merle haggard concert.
it had to make many of them feel like kunta kinte at a merle haggard concert.
Or Kunta Kinte at an RNC convention.
Wasn't this nation founded on freedom of religion and not pushing your beliefs on others? Why do Republicans think they are the only ones who believe in God?
