Wasn't this nation founded on freedom of religion and not pushing your beliefs on others? Why do Republicans think they are the only ones who believe in God?

The reason I get that feeling is how many people that assume about conservatives. I am not religious I don't like churches and I am conservative. There are comments all the time about republicans being too religious so I was surprised. I was not trying to be a jerk. I really wanted to know. And the controversy over the god piece being taken out and the DNC was not the only time this has happened. Remember the god reference being taken out of the US Open they just did no one knew it was coming and so I put two and two together. There is such a thing about it at schools and separation of church ans state and they take it too far and are REALLY adamant so I assumed this is a huge issue. And I don't hear many dems arguing for the god references when this happens. So, I did not get it.

I'm VERY religious and I don't like churches. I perfer to talk directly to "THE MAN", rather than go thur a middle man/woman. My church is anywhere I happen to be, I will however go out back by myself, and pray. I've gotten in a lot of trouble, refering to the "formalized religions"

I do too, in fact I qualify.

I do not think the issue is dem's who feel the same way. I think it is more about dem's that are hostile to religion in general and Christians in particular.
