I thank you for that...Sometimes on this forum there are people who seem to forget that...

Thank you....

Are you really taking this as a compliment?

I'm taking it with the same dose of sarcasm that it was likely offered with... I'm not that stupid...

Do you only thank people for compliments, CG? It's pretty sad when the discourse has become so nasty that differences can be labeled a lack of patriotism but it happens every day here.

I guess I'm the naive one here,I took ntm's post at face value and was pleased to see that not all conservatives think liberals are unAmerican. Why can't we have different opinions and yet we all love this country?

... sorry, LJ - didn't mean to step on you but this is a pet peeve of mine in political forums these days.

Well, sometimes you can't discern whether or not something like that is legit or not. Unfortunately, there's no "sarcasm-font" here...

I take it with a grain of skepticism until someone shows me different... Unfortunately, and all too often here, it IS meant with sarcasm....

I was being serious about the patriotism, I apologize for muddying the message with an attempt at humor.

Here's my message short and sweet:

I recognize and respect a basic commonality with other posters - a love of our country. I don't need the anniversary of a tragedy to remind me of that.

Another jab. The way I look at it, you can be part of the problem or part of the solution. I said earlier we all care. I meant it but if that is taken one sided again, I give up. I asked a question. I have a big problem with the outright constant attacks from LJ on the republicans, I think she has some points but her constant hate of the other side gets in the way of real discussion.

And the solution is not about right or wrong it is about real discussion and respect for both sides. I am trying everything I possibly can to get that across. When I see something unfair I say it but I think I can be objective. The constant hypocrisy of believing only democrats are all knowing and wonderful is a big problem and it divides us further. And I just can't seem to get that through. I am glad LJ is here I just would like to see her get a little more objective. I respect your side of thinking I DO NOT respect your thinking that all Republicans are out to hurt every living thing and only care about themselves and money. that is not fair and truthfully if that can't be understood, I am starting to wonder about why. (that is the nice way to put it) Change your tactics and you will be surprised at what happens. I will give her this she will continue on despite any complaints and is tenacious but that is not what is needed here. This not an attack it is a plea.

Then, I thank you ...again...for real...

Too bad someone else's attempt to muddy the water made it seem as if it wasn't sincere....
