Mitt Romney courts Hispanics as an Oompa Loompa

It does not have to be expanded, just looking for any reasons.

Here is what I posted earlier, as to why I support President Obama.

First and foremost, he has been a tremendously successful at governing this country given the incredible disaster he inherited and the GOP obstructionists that have placed loyalty to their political party over the American public.

He inherited an economy that was hemorrhaging jobs by the millions, manufacturing industry spiraling down the tubes, a government that had grown by the millions of government jobs, a record deficit that was rising at the highest rates ever, government spending that had risen at the highest rates ever, two major wars, and health care system that was leaving millions without the possibility of getting proper medical care.

In 3 1/2 years, he has been able to stop the economy from sliding into a depression, pushed through the largest reform of the financial industry in 70 years to keep the corrupt and greedy actions that precipitated the economical disaster from reoccurring, something no administration since FDR has been able to do, pushed through the first health care reform since Medicare, something no other administration has been able to do, reinvigorated the manufacturing industry (first growth in the manufacturing industry since before Reagan) and saved the auto industry (with help from Bush), decreased the number of government employees, decreased the rate of government spending, kept tax rates the lowest they have been in 50 years, deported the most illegal aliens in history, got rid of DADT, gutted DOMA, thus improving the access to equal rights for a segment of our population that had suffered discrimination. Under his administration, the number of illegal aliens have decreased, the energy independence of our country is at the highest level since Nixon, the tax rates are the lowest since before Nixon, our troops have largely left Iraq, a plan with a definitive time table is in place to get our troops out of Afghanistan. This administration has in 3 1/2 years filed and won more than twice as many unfair trade practices against China than the previous administration. He has appointed two female SC justices including the first hispanic supreme court justice in history.

There are things left undone still. Unemployment is unacceptable, but I blame that on the GOP obstructionists who refuse to enact any of the jobs bills proposed by the President. I am disappointed in the lack of improvement in environmental policies. The deficit is too high, but that is largely the fault of unfunded tax cuts by the previous administration and two unfunded wars by the previous administration. The economy needs further improvement, but that is the fault of the private sector. The tax policies need to be adjusted, but the GOP obstructionists are more interested in their political parties than in the American public. More work is needed to ensure health care for all Americans.

These are just a few of the reasons why I support the current President of the United States. Can you provide specifics as to why you support Romney, other than he is not Obama?

Here is another post giving examples:

My question is on purpose, as I am curious as to whether there are reasons to support Romney other than he is not Obama. For example, is it his economic plan, if so what is it? Is it is vision on foreign policy, if so, what parts of it? Is it his plan to improve health care for all Americans, if so what parts of it? Is it his tax plan, what about it? Anyone?

Replied by CinnamonGirl on topic Mitt Romney courts Hispanics as an Oompa Loompa
As requested.

1. Romney supports offering school choice options such as charter schools, school-voucher programs for public and private schools, and home-schooling as an alternative to mandating that students continue to attend underperforming schools in the traditional public school system.[246][247][248] He has called for performance-based pay for public-school teachers, along with bonuses for the best teachers, as an incentive to help improve the quality of education. Per Wiki. I am a huge supporter of school vouchers.

2.Romney was against reviving the Fairness Doctrine, which required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Romney said, "I'd veto it if it ever got to my desk. And I would fight against it vehemently. The effort to try to impose the Fairness Doctrine on radio stations is, if you will, censorship Democrat style. It basically says we're not going to let you keep talking about the things you want to talk about and the market wants to hear." Per wicki. I think we are heading towards more censorship and anyone that could even consider this in the US is a problem for me. Really it is an undercurrent of problems with 1st amendment rights.

3. Romney denounced the SOPA bill, agreeing to some extent with Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul, who oppose it also. Romney described the bill as "intrusive" and "too expensive". Per Wiki I agree

4. Romney doesn't want the United States to "become like Europe." Per wiki. I believe Obama is moving us that way without apology. I agree

5. In accordance with my own conservative values Romney does not believe in redistribution and is a strong supporter of capitalism.

6. Romney criticized at the time Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama for saying that in his first year as president, he would meet with the leaders of several nations hostile to the government of the United States, including Syria, North Korea, Cuba, and Iran. Stating an opposing viewpoint Romney said, "Having the president meet with the authoritarian tyrants of the world is remarkably poor judgment."[101] Romney has recently charged that President Obama "went around the Middle East and apologized for America." Per wiki. I would not go so far as to say he apologized. But I do not agree with how Obama has been handling the middle east. I believe Romney would support Isreal much more than Obama has done.

7. "A decent and humane society must have a strong safety net for the unemployed. I served for 15 years as a lay pastor in my church and saw the heartbreak of joblessness up close; a shattering loss of faith in oneself is but only one of many forms the suffering can take. Nonetheless, the vital necessity of providing for those without work should not be used as an excuse to ignore the very real problems of our unemployment system. In this, as in so many other arenas of government policy, unemployment insurance has many unintended effects.
The indisputable fact is that unemployment benefits, despite a web of regulations, actually serve to discourage some individuals from taking jobs, especially when the benefits extend across years.
The system is also not designed for a flexible economy like ours in which some employees move from job to job for short periods, and are therefore ineligible for unemployment compensation when they are faced with a protracted spell without work." I believe the sharp increase in unemployment benefits and other programs have not served as help but hindrince in growth. Before I am accused of being an uncaring knuckle dragger, I do believe in taking care of our sick and elderly. The poor is another matter entirely and it is a difficult thing to work with. However when everyone is doing good then EVERYONE DOES GOOD. The rich are not the problem. And Obama absolutely has been the one making people believe that having money is a sin. Unbelievable. When we were having incredible times in the late 1990's, city and county governments had more money than they could spend almost. Aurora and Jeffco built big gorgeous buildings with few complaints now they are all going bankrupt. It is a difference in policy not Bush made it so bad we can't get out. My opinion.

8. Romney said before committing to a particular space program, he will take advice from experts in the field. I do not believe Obama cares about the space program

9. Obama care would be repealed. I will disclose that I do not have the time at this moment to get into specifics right now. I am hoping the debates will answer some of those questions

This is just a sample at this point. I am waiting for the debates. But it is no secret that I am conservative fiscally. No matter what you say I do not believe Obama is and I also believe he is the most polarized democrat in modern history. I can't vote for that. I think his style borders on narcissistic. I understand all presidents are narcissistic that is why they run but I believe Obama is a disaster and I also think twice whenever a president gets a second term it is a nightmare to have a pres that can just do whatever they want without worry of reelection. I have more I just can't go into every singe item. If Romney dose not turn out to lie and do totally opposite of what he says, I believe the business experience runs circles around the Europe style government that Obama believes in. I am glad for the glass ceiling he broke but damn. I hate the USA I am seeing right now.
