1st Presidential Debate thoughts...

No knockout punch tonight.

My thought is that Obama looked uncomfortable most of the time. It looked like he didn't want to be there. He kept looking down with little eye contact, and had several facial grimaces. He spoke with pauses, spurts, lots of "ums and ahhs".

Romney was much smoother, as should be expected since he had so much more debate experience this year in the Republican debates. He kept his head up, looked towards Obama, and made his points.

I'd like to see the time each one spoke. To me, it looked like Romney spoke much more and dominated both Obama and and the moderator Bill Lehrer.

Obama stuck much more to his main points. Romney moved around much more freely.

Not that I was super impressed either way, but I think Romney's people would be more happy after tonight than Obama's.

I was a little bored to see them sticking to their stump speeches so often.

Agree. And both kept talking about the worker, or woman, or man, or teacher, or whoever they met on the campaign. It could just be made up so far as we know. But that's what politicians do.

Knock out punch by Rumney. He was concise and coherent and you wanted to listen to what he said. Obuma rambled. Obuma will have to come out fighting for the next one.

Economics,,, the class BO skipped to smoke a dube.

Without his telepromoter he has a hard time.
And for someone who's motto is forward, he only talks about the past.

Didn't say the name but did place the blame.

So who is running BO or Clinton?

I thought it was pretty good, better than my expectations. The moderator Lehrer did a good job of keeping them focused on describing their differences on each issue, which helped some, that is what people need to know. Romney did fine, was pretty aggressive and pushy but seemed sharp. Obama seemed a little bored and relaxed. Like he thinks he already has it won. He does love to say "middle class" LOL

Even the liberal talking heads are saying Romney looked more upbeat and Obama looked annoyed. Even David Gregory said Romney had a more coherent message while Obama was all over the place. Jim Leher did a good job of staying out of the way. Look for Obama to do a change-up next debate and go on the offensive. I think he's just trying to run out the clock without pulling a Biden, but he now realizes Romney is more of a threat than he thought imo.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Romney attacked. It's what he needed to do. He was skilled at not answering questions. President Obama looked perturbed. Seemed like he didn't want to slam Romney.

Debate was iffy due to terrible moderating. No control and Romney took advantage of it and came off a little rude. He showed more passion, but was evasive. President Obama didn't have that fire he had at the convention. Came off more like a professor.

The best moments - Romney telling Lehrer he was going to fire him and Big Bird. Romney's sons seeming like they really wanted to meet the President.

I think the good news for the GOP is that Romney won this debate....the good news for Dems is that Romney was forced to give details and many of them may not play well in Peoria....but all of them will be fodder for Democratic commercials.

Rumney in my view was very specific and answered questions. He has a plan.

And Lehrer asked great questions and gave them room to respond. I thought he did a very good job.
