Nah, us independents are just getting more and more disgusted by both sides and more pushed to vote anything but Rep or Dem. And when whomever is elected gets nothing accomplished in the next 4 years, and it turns even more people against both major parties, maybe we'll finally have enough votes to do something about it. Course, it'll be too late to actually do anything about the impending crash anyway so whatever. "Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I thought it was going to get violent- like I was expecting Biden to start slapping the moderator around. I don't think his performance will go over very well with women. I hope every woman see's this guy for what he is- a career politician who's been on the job too long.

Yea he tried to run roughshod over Ryan- but I don't think it'll be recieved very well.

And every woman has gotta see this guy as the angry ass he is- how would you like to be his wife?

Good idea- I don't think any of these idiots are going to solve the major crisis that is headed our way. I think all the smart people are doing what you are doing SC- preparing for what's about to hit us.

Where ever you move I hope your family is safe, and that you have saved the resources you will need to get through the mess our government has created for us.

It's gonna be nasty.

How condescending of you Bear, to tell women what they should be thinking...women are perfectly capable of deciding for themselves what they think and how they feel about either Biden or Ryan.

As a long term Libertarian, I wish you were correct but somehow while Gary Johnson is polling in the single digits in Colorado now, it always seems that the minor parties end up with about 1% of the vote. Voter suppresion? Kidding! Maybe people just like to lie to pollsters.

I just finished watching on delay because we were out.

I recorded it on CNN and agree with what most of their commentators said. BTW, I'm an independent not that I claim to be unbiased (I saw earlier posts about no independents here).

Based on substance, I thought both of them were well prepared and it was close.

Based on style, Biden was clearly the angry one and I know that's what will energize the base. Biden kept interupting all the time and had about a two minute time advantage most of the time but complained that he wasn't getting enough time. It ended up with about a 1 min 20 sec time advantage per CNN's clock as I recall.

So Biden was red faced, smirking, shaking his head, started with big smiles which later went away. I thought Biden said a lot of "ummms" during his final summary while Ryan outdid him there by looking directly to the camera and talking smoothly.

Ryan drank about a quart of water (two big glasses by my count). I'm sure we'll get a political interpretation of what that is supposed to mean (like he can't make a decision until he drinks a quart of water).

Bottom line, the Democratic base is energized because Biden was angry. I don't think the debate made much of a difference for the rest of people (independents and Republicans). CNN (on delay) calls it a dead heat based on their in house voters. We'll see what the polls say.

I'm still on delay, but the quick CNN poll came out as 48% for Ryan, 44% for Biden. Within error.

I think that is a fair assessment pine...Biden did what he had to do....he got people fired up and gave the base the opportunity to see him confront Ryan on the issues that are important to liberals. Ryan did better than expected on foreign affairs and seemed confident in his answers right up to the abortion issue where he and Romney differ on exceptions to an abortion ban for incest, rape and the mothers health. You could clearly tell he was uncomfortable with Romney's policy and made the distinction between belief and policy.

Will this debate change minds...probably not. But I think the Democrats got some of their mojo back and the Republicans can relax, Ryan did fine and didn't embarrass them. But sheesh, Ryan is pretty boring.
