So, your b.s. about "outstanding family man" has about as much relevance as "Christine O'Donnell: 'I am not a witch.'"

Guns are everywhere and readily available- Maybe some of you need to push yourselves away from the keyboard and go outside once and awhile

Why is it that everytime you post, you show more of your stupidity, guess you can't help yourself. You know very little of anything. Your not even a good liar.

A football player killed another player this week with a car. I think we should ban cars.

My point with this statement? Yeah, now that he drove drunk his car will be taken away but don't you think this had a better chance of not happening by the league telling every player that they would pay for a cab for any player that has been drinking? Just have them call to make it super easy to get a ride. Or I remember those drunk driving commercials and how effective they were when they showed kids that had died from drunk driving, they showed home-video and that was pretty effective. This week a nurse committed suicide because of a radio show called her and made her look silly. Obviously she had a mental issue. There was no way that they were going to be able to recognize that ahead of time. I realize guns are different. But I still believe education is more effective. And the KC player had some mental defect. If I try to play the scenario out in my head, I do try to think, okay if he wanted to stab her he would have had to go downstairs and maybe there was a better chance that somebody would've caught him. But he could have choked her. And what if he had a machete? A man was shot by police over two weeks ago and all he had was a machete, they felt threatened enough to kill the guy. Those Japanese fighting swords? People keep them up on the wall, he could have had that in his bedroom and very accessible. And if guns get outlawed I'm guessing people will start carrying way more knives. And you will see the death rate on knives go up. How are you going to outlaw knifes? IT is the people that commit these crimes you need to focus on.

Seriously, if I truly believed that taking guns away would stop the madness I'd say let's do it. But in my previous post talking about the kid in Castle rock, that would not have saved him. And I'm going to say again Bob Costas saying that if guns were illegal would have saved Jovan and his girlfriend is inaccurate. And even if guns were illegal that kid in Aurora just would have had to pay an extra thousand bucks to buy the gun he had on the black market.

I will agree with this, some of this is about the culture and that is what we have to change. But lets put our efforts and focus into things that work not expelling 6 year olds for bringing a butter knife to school. (true story after Columbine) I think what the people who always want to ban things don't get is when you do this that means a group of people are making judgements about the whole. This is needed sometimes to keep people from doing stupid things, I get that, but it won't fix this one. Let's start tackling it by getting the word out. Do you know how many little kids get hold of guns and shoot themselves on accident?

http://www.childrensdefense.org/child-r ... s-2012.pdf

According to this document between 3500 and 4000. When Communities Bound becomes a big corporation, one of the first things I would like to do is start a media campaign about the dangers of loaded weapons around children. Obviously, people are not being diligent. And most likely they wish upon anything that they had known ahead of time about the dangers. I believe that kind of info in a commercial and getting the word out would save lives. Or how about this, make all gun owners take a safety class. But then the criminals won't get that class. I heard directly from an official that was at the aurora theater, the killer did not know what he was doing with that gun and all three guns jammed on him. So now that you know that, would you not be in favor of classes?

Do you know how many people are killed due to accidental poisoning from anti freeze? (tastes sweet) something like 10,000! That does not include animals. And get this, congress won't approve a bittering agent being put in the coolant. Really? Really? Because they don't believe it will change anything? "Antifreeze makers only add denatonium benzoate to product destined for these states, even though it costs just three cents a gallon to include the bittering agent, Goldes said." And they won't do it. That is ludicrous. Another cause I would jump all over with when possible.

But guns are different? This is about emotions. Research the numbers and do your own research. That is what Costas should have done. He quoted an idiot and had to backtrack. Look at the data. It seems to me, that the bittering agent should be an easy fix for this anti freeze issue and they don't want to do it. Let's dig into that and see if that really is the reason.

You don't take away (the offending item) you add (information). There is your fix. You cannot outlaw antifreeze or knives.

I have one more example. I know this will make a couple people roll their eyes.

Pinecam. They fixed their forum by banning and taking out posts. Did it work in the community? No, nature always finds a way. Someone started another site and kept the posts up and did not ban people. Or they called each other on the phone to talk about these issues. It may have kept some people from being "mean" (I guess that is why they did it) to each other on their site but it caused problems for those in the community that needed a site for other things like getting info on fires, etc. And some believe the banning and pulled posts were about politics. Some people felt that friends of moderators got special treatment. But either way, we started 285b because we saw the need for those being shut out. Same thing would happen with guns, they will just find other methods because the root of the problem is the culture.

If you want to make changes you don't force or ban, you market and show the real consequences. That will be in their mind and make people more prepared for the emotions they will face when thinking of killing themselves or others, or getting extremely emotional. Finding a better way to handle life. And make better choices. Knowing what the consequences are. And you could save a life!

I have a bunch of stuff swimming in my head about all this that would take days to explain but really just do your own research, stop putting your energy into an all across ban and think of a creative way to do this. It takes a village. LOL

Ban the booze!!! Killed another NFL player. I wonder if NFL players have one of the higher death rates? I would imagine part of it is they live high risk high reward lifestyles. But also having so much extra cash leads to fast cars, excessive parties, etc.

Costas should have addressed the NFL culture too. Banning is limited. Someday we won't be allowed to leave our home, but education and research is forever. Watch the movie minority report.
