They could, but they won't. Surely you aren't suggesting the government tell business what they can invest in to lower their tax rate.....wouldn't that be new regulations.

I do think that the government needs to maintain a military, provide disadvantaged people with potential opportunities to raise themselves up in life and other programs that the states cannot handle.
The biggest difference that I see in you and I archer is that you believe that the government should assume much larger roles in our life and I believe many of those roles should be handled by the private sector.

There are things I believe the government should do and things I don't.....I don't want to give them a larger role in our lives, but rather a different role. But that is a topic for a whole different thread.

I personally do not believe that the government can effectively and efficiently handle health care for this nation.
From my perspective, they (both sides) can't even handle their own job descriptions in Washington .
They are not people I want controlling so much of my life......with all due respect.

And I think that the government is the only entity that can handle a national health care objective, one that is fair to all citizens, allows us to have health care parity between states, portability of insurance, and keeps the profit motive out of the equation.

Sorry folks, I do not usualy get carried away with emotocons. I was just wondering if you realizing that you are not only having a civil conversation, you are having it in the shit bucket.

THAT'S IT! This is an outrage, and some people are ruining my bit bucket experience with civil discussion. Geez! I'm not coming in here anymore until it gets back on topic! :)

Going back to the Poo-Poo land thread.

So if we have a civil conversation in the bucket, shouldn't it be moved out of the bucket into the main section? Giddy up Bob!!

But seriously, there's a strange feeling of peacefulness in this new forum and I can't quite put my finger on the reason. I know it will come to me

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Peacefulness? Maybe because some posters boycott this forum?

I can't believe you really posted that. So women should shut up about discrimination or attempts to control their personal lives, or even abuse because it isn't as bad as what happens to women in Saudi Arabia. That is disgusting.

Typical American, whining about what you don't have and not appreciating how good you have it, and how much better life has become.
Never content. :crying2:
