Per Wall Street Journal.......THIS is the "new" face of terrorism.....small, dis-enchanted,dis-enfranchised individuals(groups) who believe
there cause justifies there actions and are willing to resort to violent means to be heard. Just because Osama BinLaden is deceased, does NOT mean his "words" are dead.
There is ALWAYS a balancing out of energy....it's called karma. To TRULY understand this ramification( for the United States ) a
"must read" is CONFESSION OF AN ECONOMIC HITMAN by John Perkins.....A TRUE tale of "one man's experiences inside the intrigue,
greed, corruption and little-known government and corporate activities that America has been involved in since WW11, and which have
dire consequences for the future of democracy and the world."
As an "economic hitman","he convinced developing countries to accept enormous loans and to funnel that money to US corporations. The American government and international aid agencies then requested their "pound of flesh", including access to natural resources,
military co-operation and political support". (quote from cover of book)..............AND NOW YOU HAVE THE WHOLE STORY......you are
witnessing the balancing of energy in "real" time. JMO

More to the point... within their circle of "friends" are there other radicalized Muslims out there... Chechen or otherwise? We've learned a lot in one week and there is information to suggest that in 2011 the Russian government ask the FBI to look into Tamerlan's activities both online and his social circle. His social media pages had links, comments and videos related to Islamic fundamentalist teaching. Family and friends all relate how over the last 5 years Tamerlan had become more "religious" and showing signs of being discouraged about his American lifestyle and his purpose in life.
Exactly. I am unclear that their ethnicity has as much to do with this as their radical shift in their religious beliefs.
Heard an interesting story about the mother this am. She had become more and more radical since 2009. She had run a beauty business from her home and a customer had been interviewed.
She returned to Russia recently. Why?
Why did the Uncle cut family ties in 2009.?
There is much to learn here.

And even if I gave any credence to what's in this book... does that justify the violence that we see coming from radical Islamic fundamentalism? No... I didn't think so. Four people were killed in Boston and over 150 persons were injured, many of them now maimed for life. This has nothing to do with "energy" or some other new age claptrap.
The Jews have been ostracized and murdered by the million across history. Would you turn to "pound of flesh" platitudes to explain a sudden explosion of Jewish terrorism? American natives were killed by the tens of thousands by invading conquers and explorers. Would you be willing to chalk up an outburst of Native American bombings to "balancing of energy?"
No... history may be a motivator for some groups to feign a justified reason for their actions, but in the real world, the only responsibility that can be attributed to terrorism is to the person(s) committing those atrocities.
PRIOR to 9/11 of 2001.......when OBL WAS active and verbal....go back and REALLY digest his words.......(that will be an arduous
task,as he had much to say.).......I believe you will see an "echo" of Perkins claims and OBL was INTENT on exacting economic impact
on America(from my understanding).....it is also my understanding that when the towers came down he was SURPRISED at the destruction,as he had NOT anticipated the COMPLETE collapse. I believe Steve Emerson (terrorist expert at the time) gave a detailed
analysis of the events leading up to Twin Towers and the "concept" behind the plan.....as I remember he stated (in his book) that OBL
praised Allah many times over for the fortuitous outcome......for he knew that economically he had struck a great blow.

I guess you don't catch my point. I DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENED IN HISTORY. I am only concerned at this time with the fact that we have terrorist attempting and succeeding to kill and maim Americans. And the people who are carrying out that killing and maiming have NO JUSTIFICATION for what they are doing. We can sit back and discuss the domino effect of history, the wheres, whys and what fors of cause and causation AFTER we stop these killings. We can bother ourselves with "echos" after we clear our ears of the deafening sound of explosives going off in our laps and tearing our legs to pulp.
I'm well aware of the analytical information that has come from people like Steve Emerson (I've read most of his works) and I generally agree with him. But he is a terrorism expert, I would expect this sort of analyst from him. But I would not expect tactical opinions from him, that is not his area of study. And he rarely offers that sort of opinion.
We are in a war that has flared for almost two centuries........it will never end. Christians and Muslims are at war.....how it ends is unknown. We refocus on the third tier trivia (exactly what the enemy expects, head back to the mall, spend trillions and the beat goes on).

It has gone on for quite a few more centuries then two. The Muslims started their violence two years after Muhammad’s death in AD 632 with the start of their Muslim Crusades. The Christian Crusades came AD 1095. The Muslim invasion into Spain (Iberia) from AD 711 to 997.

Wrong... wrong... wrong... Muslims and Christians are not at war. You're bigoted comment is no different than when Lady Jazzer clumps all conservatives into her collective basket (pun intended)... and you probably unintendedly insulted a large part of your Christian audience too! You're wrong about both religions.
There are certain elements among the worldwide community of Muslims who want to harm not only westerners... but even other sects within their own faith. They are the ones who are at war with the whole world. It's narrow minded of you to not even realize that there are many people of many faiths who are a target of radical Islamic fundamentalism. Radical Islam's intent is to rule the world... and they are ready to damn ANYONE to "hell" who doesn't play along with them.
And the religion of Islam began around 632 AD... and their attempts to convert the world has been active for over 1400 years... which is not two centuries. You're wrong for a third time.

We may not think them justified, but they probably do. Just as those in our country felt justified that we invade Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11 - at some point someone has to be the better person and end the cycle despite their pain and grief directly caused by someone else. At some point, dialog and nonviolent protests have to be the way to change the world rather than retaliation and destruction.
I've never heard of Steve Emerson, thanks for the mention so I can check out his works.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Well... you know my stand on your Captain Kathryn Janeway Syndrome... we'll just have to agree to be disagreeable on the topic the necessity of warfare. Sometimes you got to whack them in the head with a 2x4 to get their attention. Now imagine me saying with I did calmly and sincerely to you.
