Well last week the world saw how much damage two young punks can do using easily aquired materials. And by damage, I don't mean the carnage (although it was significant)... I mean the millions of dollars lost from a shut down city, the fear, and fact that our government can never fully protect us.

This event imo, will be the catalyst for many more future attacks... far more than 9/11 because of how easily it was pulled off and how difficult it is to prevent.

Chick is precisely correct.......and little of the terrorist bombings and murders are discussed in our schools......as Jazz incorectly points out the happenings are fact and not revisions. GOOGLE SLA, Weather Underground and Black Panthers......these thugs and others killed many and to deny so is gross......akin to the holocaust deniers. BUT we handled the insurection with police and FBI and not tanks and SWAT teams........since 911 we have lost the real professionals we had 30 years ago......to our peril in the long run.

3000 cops, tanks, helos were needed to take down two inept characters......what ??

Per NBC TV news tonight...

The surviving one says they did it alone. The reason was they thought the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were against Muslims. I wonder why they waited so long then, since those wars have pretty much winded down.

He claims they got the bomb making directions from an Al-Qaeda website. They used fireworks purchased legally at a store as the explosive and the NBC report interviewed a store employee (no big deal there).

The report also said just one gun was used. But it's still early and reports can change.

My question is where did the two get their money? The parents moved back to Russia (NBC showed an interview with the mother who is still in denial). The survivor was a student. I'm not sure what the dead one did. I think they had cars. Just curious where they got their income. Maybe it means nothing, but it needs to be looked into in order to verify if the two did in fact act alone.

I love when someone turns to platitudes like above when discussing terrorism. "Mass killings are nothing new," "Not all Muslims are bad," "We just don't understand the impact of our American culture in other nations," "The chickens have come home to roost."

When someone just had their legs blown off their first thought is rarely "Mass killings are nothing new in our history, nor have rates increased." What we've become more aware of is a certain subset of a certain religion (is it politically correct for me to mention names... ah... I'm going to do it anyway... the radical Islamic fundamentalist subgroup of Islam) has made it known publicly that they want to inflict massive amounts of damage and carnage to any person and any nation (Job One - western governments) who doesn't fall in line with their radical version of Islam. If you want "nothing new in history..." well... that's nothing new.

That's what we should be focusing on. (P.S. My "nephew" had nothing to do with mass killings).

The parents were also on welfare before they left. Seems like our compassionate immigration policy has it's consequences at times.

FYI....prior to 911, the single largest bombing in US history was on 9161920 on wall street and killed 40 people with 400 injured. The bombers were never caught but because of many other left wing (commies) bombings at that time in US the murderers can be surmised.

Radicals come from many belief systems.

Aren't you forgetting the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995 that killed 168 and injured about 800?
