It is my belief that the similarity of Watergate and what we are witnessing now, are TOO similar. I believe the nation is experiencing a repeat of history.....only this time it is with a foreign
foe.

Since you are interested in "the macro", would there ever be a good time to reestablish a truly fair trade policy with China and to confront them about the theft of intellectual property that they have used to grow their economy in an immoral way? What would Hillary have done? I'm guessing the same as Obama... nothing.

President Trump is hinting he won't expand the tariffs against China. Did he lose or is he seeing enough progress that he doesn't want to ruin?

Do you not think China should be held accountable for their trade practices and property theft? How powerful would China be today if not for the bad trade policies and the theft of almost everything this country has invented? Which of your trusted leaders would be better suited or have the balls to do anything about this?

THIS factor is the fatal flaw in the king's concept. It can be the decline of our economy...…
read recession.

AGAIN, to answer the questions of many posters.....does this
article seem accurate in it's macro view.? ANTIQUATED ideas that would have worked
decades ago....but not in a GLOBAL economy.

Snicker. China and Japan before them have used this antiquated 1930's strategy to achieve great prosperity and economic growth. Japan was using it in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. China does it now.

I had an economics professor who loved to denounce mercantilism. He says they send us goods we want and we give them back fiat money that isn't backed by anything. Bonus America. And for the consumer it is a great deal. But for the person working in manufacturing, it puts him on the streets because the Chinese are taking a loss on the products and adding a high tariff so American products can not compete with Chinese products at home. America got into a number of tariff battles domestically. The industrialized states wanted high tariffs to protect their developing factories. Agrarian regions wanted low tariffs so they could buy foreign products cheaper.

Absolutely they should be, and asking Canada to arrest their CFO is hopefully the first step in doing so. So was arresting the Chinese student caught taking photos of a US Naval base in Key West, and busting the massage parlor/sex trafficking ring in Miami started by Li [Cindy] Yang who's advertised she can connect Chinese clients with U.S. politicians.

Our current administration advising Germany not to use Huawei was a very good move, and it's concerning that they are dismissing the warning and potential security problems.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

Agree. China does not like to play by the rules and they can be very unethical in their dealings. I hated using their companies when I was a buyer because so much of what they delivered was subpar or not to the print. So while I am normally a big free market guy, you do need to clamp down on abuses and China is one of the worst. Their market is so huge that other nations are willing to look the other way to get access. Would love to see a few other nations go after China for piracy and other trade crimes.
