Very good Heartless.
I interpreted the Kane reference to be to "Citizen Kane". Able was more difficult,
The best I was "able" to come up with was "Able is a minor character in the Disney XD series, Tron: Uprising. He owns a successful light cycle garage, called Able's Garage, in Argon City. His employees include Beck, Zed, Mara, and Link. He acts as a grandfather figure to Beck. He is also one of the few programs who know that Tron is still alive. He seems to be good friends with him, and supports the renegade. After saving Zed and Mara from Cyrus's bombs, one of them attaches itself to him, and in the ensuing explosion, he gets derezzed."
Never saw the film, sounds pretty intense.
Do you think we are more divided now than say during WW2? We do have a common enemy now, though the Left may think Soros and buddies are just trying to help.
Having not been born until the end of WWII. I can only comment based on the observations of my parents. My father, and his 3 brothers all served in Europe, by the grace of God they all came home, my Dad, 2 purple hearts, never complained or talked about his service, just something that he had to do.
My mother, as was common, raised my older brother alone, with family support, while he was with the Army from 1942-46. Have to mention that when my Dad came back, he saw his son for the first time, my brother had never had a haircut for 3+ years, needless to say Dad was taken aback and went to the barbershop immediately with my brother.
I digress.
Flash forward to 1995, my son said that his generation (he was 21 at the time) had not had any crises to face. Paraphrasing his words, " You had Vietnam, came back to demonstrations against the war, the burning of the cites in the the late 60's. The sexual revolution (the "pill") free love." He went on to say that his generation had never been tested, they were not even hiding under their desks as we did in the 50"s for threat of nuclear attack.
Lengthy, but I think important for you to know where I am coming from.
Yes, we were united during WWII, because, I think, there was an enemy who would destroy our country. Not the case today, the enemy is within, it is easy to protest, riot, when you have no skin in the game. In the 60's the draft made everyone have "skin in the game". A big WHOA! I could be shot, maybe killed, if I got drafted. All the difference in the world.
You are probably very close to my age based on what I read. My dad and his twin brother and their older brother all served as well. My uncle Bob was a Navy pilot, lived through the war but died in plane crash on Catalina Island before I was born. My dad and his twin brother both joined the Coast Guard in 1939, so we weren't at war until the Pearl Harbor attack, when the Coast Guard falls under Navy command. I graduated high school in 1975 so the Vietnam (conflict?) was over. The common enemy is a real rallying factor. I think America will soon see what many in our own country have been doing to us for longer than any of us have been alive.
The very close above is relative. My oldest brother was 14 years older and next older brother was 9 years older.
Heartless,
I am closer to your brothers ages. Born in 1946. Graduated H.S. in 1964. Your brothers especially the older, probably has memories of the 60's. Interesting times.
You are right homeagain, unfortunately we have been divided for ever. Hopefully a chance to experience unity is soon to come. There will always be a criminal element in our nation. We need to remain vigilant and not succumb to civil war, race war or class war as the evil ones want. Better times are coming.
