Colorado funds only one agency to help families and adopted kids with their trauma-filled past. And its budget just got slashed.
No family who has received trauma-informed coaching by Raise the Future has reported a disrupted adoption, according to the agency.
The state has a separate contract with the agency to fund caseworkers, through the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The national nonprofit works to find families for kids who have had a failed adoption and those who have been in foster care the longest, many on the verge of aging out of the system. Since 2005, the foundation has helped find families for 214 children in Colorado, according to a spokeswoman for the nonprofit.

“Kids are not going to 27 different foster homes because they are just so darn cute,” Noto said. “Kids are not aging out of the system because they were fabulous and adults just suck. They are aging out of the system because there is literally no support for the adults in their lives to help them and their behaviors are so severe.”

Adoptions
The Colorado Sun is taking an in-depth look at how hundreds of children in our foster care system were failed twice — first when they suffered abuse and neglect and had to enter the system, and again when those adoptions failed and they reentered care. Through dozens of interviews with adoptive families, young adults who were sent back into the system, child advocates and child welfare officials, we’ve found a lack of support for both children and parents.
Monday: An average of 100 children a year over the past 10 years were returned to foster care in Colorado after being adopted by their “forever family.”
Tuesday: How are families supposed to handle adopting foster children with intense issues without enough financial support?
*Wednesday: The state is looking for ways to help and train adoptive parents, and there are successes with the nonprofit Raise the Future, but budget cuts could doom the programs.
*Thursday: The top reason adoptions fail in Colorado is “child’s behavior problem.” What are reactive attachment disorder and adoption-related loss, and why is the mental health system failing to treat them?

Yes, better to kill them right as they come out of the womb! Don't give them an opportunity to have any kind of life.
Luckily Jared Polis and the Colorado Statehouse agree with you. Fix the foster care system by increasing the abortion rate.

It's pretty interesting watching the religious zealots lose their minds over a medical procedure and then drop the whole christian stick on just about every other issue that actually helps US citizens. Once the child is born all of this posturing goes away and the child is forgotten.
They are not pro-life. They are pro forced birth.
Boy, todays evangelicals are such a hoot! They even are willing to back a candidate by 90% in GA that is against abortions but paid for at 'least' two. Had multiple undisclosed kids with multiple women that he hid away until they came forward and THEN he acknowledged them. Threatened violence against his wife forcing her and his kids to move to an undisclosed location. Hypocrisy to the extreme!

Give me real world examples of women who have elected to kill their baby right after they give birth.
Sadly children who are murdered are most likely to be murdered by their own parents.
And Catholic adoption agencies are very successful at getting babies and children adopted. Please do some investigation before you accept the false narrative that Christians do not care about children. Catholic charities do amazing work. Much Better success rate than government foster programs HA is showing.

There are plenty of examples of mothers abandoning their newborns to die, or actively killing them despite drop off sites in many communities. I am surprised that you think this never happens.

Your post implies that women are killing their children immediately after birth.

Is that what you are saying, or are you moving the goalposts?
