The whole of this nation has it's priorities misaligned...it has BEEN THAT WAY FOR A VERY LONG TIME.
WEALTH (CRYPTO OBSESSION),accumulation of boy toys,electronics.excessive consumption of material things...LACK of awareness of the outer world and how much harm has been done thru our ignorant actions....yes gov is part of the equation,however the American society is oblivious to the on going impact/toll
our actions have reaped. Let me give u a mountain example....when your septic tank is not taken care of in a proper manner and is not PUMPED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.....WHAT HAPPENS? your leach field fails,and u r in a shitload of knee deep excrement.

THAT is what happening to GAIA.....EXCEPT GAIA has been giving u warnings, they have been unheeded. so-o-o "what u sow, so shall u reap"....I have never been in a hurricane,wildfire or other GAIA disaster...but, when I read other peoples accounts of their living thru those events....they r humbled at their own fragility,they state that it was the "hell' incarnated.and that they thought they would perish.....they come away with a respect and AWE OF MOTHER NATURE.. there is no match....GAIA WILL WIN EVERTIME.

The fire hydrant story isn't unexpected. If I had a home in the fire zone, I would be watering my lawns and roof right now.

How would you do that when there is no water in the public water mains to supply your house? If the hydrants are dry, so is the main supply that leads to your home.

Southern California has always been a desert. The tribes who lived there were some of the poorest in pre-Columbian America. Then technology brought the waters of Northern California down to SoCal and made it one of the most desirable areas in the world.

Canyon....(per doc. Anasazi was NOT the name...it was the Pueblo people,there is a misconception.
Second climate change was ,in part, the reason the people broke camp and moved to a more favorable climate....following water and food source was common......speculation that when the people moved UPWARD ON THE CLIFFS, safety was the reason....better viewing for enemies.

Yeah, when your civilization consists of 20,000 individuals (approximate population of the Lakota during the mid/late 1800s) living a semi-nomadic existence on a few million acres, "taking care of the land" isn't too tough. Today there are over 170,000 members of the Lakota tribe and I'm betting they'd have a much tougher time keeping the area as pure as their ancestors did simply because there's over 8x as many of them now as there were then.

Interesting to note, that the Cheyenne claimed the territory of the Black Hills prior to the mid 1700s, and the land that the Lakota now claim is "sacred" to them was obtained by pressuring the Cheyenne off the land and claiming it as their own. Yet, 100 or so years after kicking the Cheyenne of the land, when a larger, more powerful tribe, came and forced the Lakota off the same land that they obtained by forcing the previous occupants off, that's somehow shameful and something that needs to be apologized for a century and a half later.

Tell me, do you think the Lakota owe the Cheyenne an apology for kicking them off of their tribal land?

The history the Lakota tell of their tribal, sacred, land isn't any more free of bias than the history our children learn about when we kicked the Lakota off the land they kicked the Cheyenne off. I'm sure the Cheyenne kicked someone else off the land before the Lakota came and kicked them off of it too, but now we're reaching back into oral history, and history, as we all know, is written, or told, by the victors.

Now I'm sure that the Lakota created some religious ceremony surrounding the land they kicked the Cheyenne off and claimed it for themselves over the course of the 100+ years they called it their own, but let's not pretend that their ties to this "sacred land" go back centuries to a time before North America saw its first white settler, OK?

Whites also brought Native Americans out of subsistence poverty. They are doing much better assimilated into modern living than on their own.
