I want to share a couple of articles I recently came across that, I believe, speak to the core of what ails America today but is too little discussed. The first was in Newsweek under the ironic headline “We’re No. 11!” The piece, by Michael Hirsh, went on to say: “Has the United States lost its oomph as a superpower? Even President Obama isn’t immune from the gloom. ‘Americans won’t settle for No. 2!’ Obama shouted at one political rally in early August. How about No. 11? That’s where the U.S.A. ranks in Newsweek’s list of the 100 best countries in the world, not even in the top 10.”
Being a Superpower is also part and parcel in the people. We have proven before to be the superpower in many ways other than in Military Might. We have given more money and assistance to the rest of the world than any other country ever has, since the dawn of time.
When it was absolutely a necessity, ie: WW!!, we came together as a nation to fight battles on a number of fronts at one time!!
Don't count us down and out yet Wayne, just because your Liberal Publications want to call it that way. You might very well be surprised after the November Elections.
I'm not gonna be surprised. People always vote the bums out. It makes them feel good. But it doesn't really change anything.
We spend a disproportionate amount on military and schools have to have to hold bake sales.
You brag about giving money to the rest of the world... but aren't you against that, as a member of the Tea Party? How can you be against spending federal money and brag about it at the same time?
I simply pointed out that we have been the super heroes or superpower of the world for generations. I am against wasteful spending, overspending, Welfare State mentality, spreading the wealth, larger government, less personal freedoms, Socialism, etc.
My comment was in response to your posting of an article saying we were now ranked #11 in the world. Just because Newsweek and the Times say it, or you say it, doesn't make it so.
As I said, don't count us down and out yet!! We have come back before and will again. It's the spirit of the people. Even though there are many far left Loons who hate this country and all it stands for, the majority of people in this country, who will make their presence again known in November, are good and Patriotic Americans, who will, allowed to do so, bring this country back economically. If we aren't the best country in the world, then pray tell, why does everyone in the world want to come here to live? Have the approximately 30 million illegals in this country departed for one of the 11 countries your article mentioned without my knowing it?

that is just wrong and hateful.......just because we don't see things your way does not mean we hate this country.....why don't I post much here at 285bound? Because of statements like this.
Hey, NM... Take that "hate this country" crap and stuff it up your nose... The fact that we see different ways to improve the country doesn't mean you love it and we hate it. You're full of sh*t, and you get tiresome.

rofllol LMAO!!! You are calling your self a far left loon? Wow. I don't think he was referring to you but you sure took offense to it very quick. What he says is not at all wrong. It is a fact and the truth and just because you call it hateful doesn't make it less true. There are many people very far left who are total loons who hate this country and think that we are just a bunch of Capitalists who get what we deserve. It is documented all over this country. Not sure why you would get so defensive over a true statement. And I never would have imagined that you would have thought of yourself as one of those just because he made a truthful statement. I don't see you as a far left loon who hates this country. Just a confused individual who needs guidance.

I really do not think there are many people, if any, on the left that hate this country. They may disagree with what you may believe, but hate is a pretty strong word. I think that was the point Archer was trying to make.
Oh, I guess I should add an emoticon to keep with tradition. Here - this one doesn't get used very often. :cartman:

Uh, I'm just throwing this out here. It's just a hunch.
Maybe because we're right across the border and the other countries are not???
Do you honestly think we're the only country with illegal immigration problems?
