And your source for that wild assumption is: .................?

BearMtnHIB wrote: I have seen the food banks here in Evergreen - seen the single moms who had to resort to use them, and know the people who show up every week to help out. I know folks who donate food, and their time and money. Those are the local christians you liberals are so filled with distain[sic] about.

I do too... And a HUGE number of the ones who donate the food and supplies are liberals...In fact, I would venture a guess that more liberals donate than righties... The righties are generally too busy worrying about their tax cuts.

BearMtnHIB wrote: They don't go around bragging about helping - they just do it, and that's alot more than many of you liberals can say.

Yeah, that's why I don't go around bragging about how much food I've given, and how many checks I've written. Tell me, Bear, how much have YOU donated? I don't mean to some silly-assed church that spends it on upkeep and pastor salaries...But directly to a SHELTER or FOOD BANK?

You don't think any liberals are Christians? You don't think liberals give money to food banks, homeless shelters and resource centers? What a small world view you have. I know that 100% of my charitable donations go to help people. Not to buy my minister $1000 suits, not to put a projector in so we don't have to hold hymnbooks, not to build a monolithic church with paid staff. Not to pay for shuttle buses, mortgages or salaries.

No - I don't think any of those whiny liberals who complain about churches are christians.

And It's only my business how much I am able to donate - but you can tell us all about how empathetic you are LJ - if it makes you feel better.

I'm just sayin - for all the complaints about churches, they do more to help out those who are truly in need - especially up here in Evergreen.

ahhhh yes, Christians are not allowed to criticize the church, even if the church may actually be doing something wrong? Priests messin' with kids come to mind, but I guess by your reasoning if you criticize the church you have given up your Christianity.....how elitist of you.

Reminds me of a few years back when liberals criticized Bush and were called un-American. Now the conservatives criticize Obama and are called patriots. Perhaps, if we are lucky, the conservatives will come around and realize that the church too has it's faults, and it is those who love the church that seek to reform it.

I have yet to see anyone here show figures that the church is providing more aid to the disadvantaged than social policies of our government are. But it did make a nice talking point for a few here.

You're either a liar or you're deliberately stupid.

So, you want to sling accusations that no liberals donate, but you won't MAN-UP to how much YOU do?....Got it. If you don't, why should I? (Would you like to make a little side-bet that it's MORE than you do?)

I'm not aware that anyone was "complaining" about churches. They apparently do more than the pompous righties do on their own. Perhaps the libs are more interested in making sure our donations go to the PEOPLE who need them instead of to some church's balance sheet.

Liberals help other people...it's called socialism. Liberals give equal starvation instead of salvation.

What's wrong with charitable donations going to salaries? Working for a church helping others out is honorable.

Both liberal and conservatives donate and help out charities but according to studies, red state residents earn less and donate more of their money to charities, blue state people donate less, but the reasoning is that they have to pay much higher taxes and that money goes to the poor.

 And liberals spend too much of their take home pay buying trendy organic food (Whole Paycheck Foods) so they have less food to give to the hungry.

So it seems that gifts to religious organizations is more than double any other type of organization.
