Accused drug supplier facing deportation
BOULDER — Prosecutors got a court order to retrieve an accused drug supplier from federal immigrations custody to ensure he faces prosecution on organized crime and felony drug charges while he awaits deportation.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials turned over 22-year-old Baltazar Sosa to the Boulder County Jail on Monday. During a court appearance Tuesday, his bond was increased from $5,000 to $250,000 and he was scheduled for an Aug. 28 trial.
Prosecutor Ken Kupfner said Sosa’s deportation order is under federal appeal and he was not going to be deported immediately.
