Sweet! You going to the I-25/Colorado Blvd theatre? I'll be flying in from my 285 Tourism meeting to make it on time to the 8p showing! (Think cops will let you off with a warning if you explain you're on your way to opening night for this???)

:pitstop:

At the theatre! Why can't they make 3D glasses cooler?

Pretty good flick and Pine even struts like Shatner. It is a semi remake of one of the old series shows but they still surprise. And I loved the cameo......spoiler......by a Tribble. 3rd row and they were handing out posters. And SC is right the 3D IMAX glasses are especially nerdy almost a novelty size.

I'll save my review until after this weekend when more people see it as I don't want to post more spoilers. Overall, it was good, but I was disappointed - I wish Abrams had stuck with being original and taking us new directions (I shouldn't be sitting there thinking "Man I hope they don't do this next scene, please don't copy that scene...shit...they did."). I also got annoyed at the over-the-top-melodrama and crying men - it's fine to be emotional, but there are plenty of other ways to express emotion than showing my leading men with tears tracking down their faces multiple times in a movie. Gah!

So what I wonder now...is it McCoy's fault that Tribbles breed so rapidly? lol

One more point: Bones got the best lines.
Too much weeping? Might be a little too early in the series to bring out the weeping but I think it was appropriate.
And I think the audience enjoyed the keystones, and it does look like the next movie will start the five year voyage.

And Buckaroo Banzai was onboard!

This "Q&A" right here summarized it perfectly why I am one of those that is disappointed (and it made me LOL to boot!). Caution: Very STRONG Language contained within (but exactly how I felt). The part after the "answer" "So we're done" is the best part (and the part I was most pissed about).

Star Trek Into Darkness: The Spoiler FAQ

After making a mere $84 million at the U.S. box office, Star Trek Into Darkness is considered by some to be a disappointment. Perhaps the problem is that it was a touch confusing. To help our readers better understand it, we've complied and answered these Frequently Asked Questions about the movie.

Maximum spoilers ahead...

<big snip>

...Aren’t you shocked? Aren’t you surprised at this incredible reveal?

No, I’m just angry. <snip> And furthermore, using Khan just proves that nu-Trek is going to be nothing more than the greatest hits version of Star Trek, and not even the original hits — some new band covering the old hits. It means that Abrams doesn’t have any original ideas for Star Trek, and is content to rehash the s**t people enjoyed the first time.

So we’re done?

By no means. The Enterprise is pretty much dead and has entered Earth’s orbit, meaning it's falling really, really fast. The problem is that the warp drive is misaligned, so —

Wait a minute. I know what’s happening here.

— so the ship can’t stop falling, but the warp drive room is full of radiation and —

God*****t. GOD****T!
