You know Kuehster area is pretty big. Probably a little hard for everyone to come together on the 26th.

Ignore him akilina. He is beyond understanding.

Found this helpful link. Post fire rehabilitation from Jefferson Conservation District. A very good explanation of what the land might be like after a fire and how to manage it.

It is interesting to note in that link that seeding isn't necessarily recommended any more. A number of homeowners from the Hi Meadow fire decided to pay for a helicopter drop of seeds and the grasses came back much faster than those who didn't. But maybe it was the rains that helped. I know some of them were pretty hard rains and on some pretty steep land but it worked in that instance.

I know someone who used an excellent dry land grass seed provided by the CSU Extension after the Snaking Fire with great success. So it must be more individual for them not to recommend it anymore.

It was an absolutely tasteless thing for him to say... he has no concept or understanding of what our community has gone through.

I guess he feels neighbors going pounding on neighbors doors to warn them that fire was imminent does not matter...
There were many phone calls going back and forth, there was communication while this deadly fire raced up the hill consuming acres in just minutes... doesn't matter right?
Scanners were being monitored on couple of different channels sharing we were sharing the data, doesn't matter right?
So go ahead, blame the victim.... and oh, nothing could have been done to stop this.... right?
Once it was carelessly lit on Thursday... and came back to life on Monday even while being carelessly monitored and burned out of control, doesn't matter right?

There was no negligence......
Being the driest March on record had nothing to do with it....
Having a test burn jump containment just a few short months before is not a reason to maybe hold off on the burn until just a little more moisture entered the equation was not a reason to wait....
Having NO crew at the burn site on Sunday... inconsequential...
Having just a THREE MAN CREW on site on Monday, the DAY OF THE FIRE was more than enough coverage right?
And having very little if any water with them... not an issue.
Waiting OVER 30 MINUTES before calling for help as it blazed out of control... no impact.
And to find out they actually were PACKING UP TO LEAVE before the noticed the hot spot coming back to life, DOES NOT MATTER RIGHT?

But wait... according to jf1acai, we did not get together so in jf1acai's opinion THAT was the problem?

I don't say this to people I don't know, but f*** you jf1acai....
Your obvious bias shows your total lack of concern for your community... thank god you are not one of MY neighbors.....

I have talked with Joseph from the conservation district about this... the area's where there was a high incidence of total incineration, there were going to try and do seed/mulch drops to mitigate potential erosion. I am not sure if that is still the plan but that has been discussed. Once the final plan has been release I'll try and update....

Owie, Owie, Owie. Excerpts from Kristen Moeller's most recent blog entry: The Darkness Descends. Worth reading the whole entry.

The Darkness Descends

Last night, another neighbor shared words that danced in my head all day, “it seems to be getting worse…” He went on to explain, “I was numb at first. In disbelief. Now the reality is setting in, along with the massive amount of work that needs to be done. And, the work that lies in front of us all seems unending. Life may never return to ‘normal’.” Hearing my thoughts come out of another’s mouth is validating, at least. We do know we are not alone.

... And, add insult to injury, we continue to see statements such as those by our renegade cowboy Sherriff Ted Mink who admonished the 285 community last week by telling us we shouldn’t rely on 911 to keep us safe. Of course, there was no rebuttal allowed in that moment, no space to share the fact that we did not rely on 911 for if we had, we would be dead. Neighbors saved neighbors lives. We found other ways to access information. We supported each other. 911 operators told us not to worry. We used common sense and disregarded their advice. The overwhelming consensus among all neighbors who were impacted – if we had trusted 911 or relied on just that – many many more would have died that day.

Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex. Only whit man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” Indian Chief Two Eagles

PER DENVER POST.......GOP House has proposed a compensation fund for the victims of LNF Fire. This would be SEPARATE from any
filings of lawsuits and COULD bring fair more money to the victims than a lawsuit. Sen. (R) Minority Leader Cadman, out of C. Spgs.
said that there is governmental immunity, but the government does NOT have MORAL IMMUNITY.......(I believe they are BEGINNING
to see the light......we will wait FURTHER information.

We have seen the best of our community and now we are seeing the worst.
Very sad.

Thanks akilina for posting a link.
The last portion of her blog. Here's to changes that benefit the community and honor you Appel and Lucases.

The Darkness Descends
The most upsetting part of our meeting on Sunday was hearing from Scott Appel whose life has been shredded due to faulty decisions of some distracted bureaucrats. Scott implored us to gather together, to not let this fade from the memory of the public (as it already is), to keep our stories in the media for as long as possible. He begged us to seek justice. We are with you, Scott. We know we all narrowly escaped the fiery fate of your beloved wife.

I want to apologize to everyone for my outburst earlier and especially you jf1acai... I was out of line. I don't know you, I don't know what is in your heart and it's not for me to question or judge. I hope you all can accept my apology.

This is not an excuse... but we got to move back into our home Saturday... and it's bittersweet. It feels good to be home and yet it feel horrible when I think about all of my friends an neighbors, what they lost, what this community lost. It all came to a head for me today.... I feel like I've been hit by a truck... in the physical way. Again, not an excuse. And I again.... I apologize for my ugly words......
