Not surprised that there will be some opposition. It wasn't only the CSFS at fault, there were others.

As the article says:

It seems likely the Colorado Forest Service's firefighting division will bear at least some blame for the way its leaders handled the wildfire, which started as a controlled burn.

But no doubt that CSFS was at fault. W/o their stupid, willful , wanton neglect, others wouldn't have had an issue to be at fault.

So-o-o, I have a call into the Denver Post Editorial staff......my question to them....WHO holds the MJR (major job responsibility) of
establishing, verifying and on-going testing of the emergency alert notification system.....IF anyone here can relate that info, please feel free to do so.
OF COURSE, state officials were responsible for the overseeing of a CRITICAL alert system.....if I am wrong, PLEASE feel free to correct
me. EVERYONE is implicit in this FUBAR.JMO

Really can't answer that one for sure homeagain. I thought emergency alert notifications was under the Sheriff's dept but Ted Mink in one of his interviews said it wasn't. So maybe a separate department under the direction of the County Commissioners?

Yep, they failed at reasonable due diligence. What a reasonable person with their expertise would have reasonably done. They got lazy and sloppy and didn't even follow their own manual.

Hmmm, be interested in what you find out. The county emergency alert notification is part of a state govt? Where they get their funding?

I look at living in the mountains with annual threat of wildfires pretty much the same as living on the coast with the threat of hurricanes.

Nobody made any of us move here. We chose it. Just because we chose to live in a high-risk area, do we really expect the rest of the taxpayers to assume the burden of risk for us? Be responsible for your own self. Get adequate insurance. Replacement value. Accept that there is always a risk of your home burning down up here and prepare as best you can for it. Accept responsibility for where you choose to live. Don't expect Colorado taxpayers to bail you out if something goes wrong that is beyond your control. Don't be so sue happy. The courts are crowded enough already. All it does it make the lawyers rich.

Good point Raees.

I feel like I am sitting at a red light and all i can hear is the bass in the car 3 cars back pounding.
I rolled my windows up but all i can hear is that bass pounding away.
The light will turn green soon and I can move on.

Let me amend/correct the previous statement I made.........SOME official,be it county or state,is responsible.......I have a call into
Jackie Kelley, information officer for Jeffco Sheriff. So far I have been told that 1st call is responsible for overseeing the system. I
then queried WHAT umbrella agency oversees 1st call and is THAT agency a direct government overseer? STILL waiting for phone call,
from what I have experienced,so far in this query, is a complete lack of knowledge, passing the buck.......so far. JMO.....911 authority
Board is APPARENTLY a county agency(?) and I was given THAT piece of information as part of this puzzle.......as an overseer? If
ANYONE here has knowledge of the above FEEL FREE TO FILL IN THE BLANKS......

I think the affected homeowners accepted responsibility for choosing where they live. What they don't accept is responsibility for willful and wanton neglect that took their homes and lives.

Don't think you would be spouting such crap if it was your home. Insurance doesn't cover everything. A government entity screwed up. It's not like the homeowners are going to get rich on the paltry sum they might raise the limits of liability.

Becky there are ear plugs for what ails you. In this case, don't read the thread. Easy solution.

Hmmm, came back with another edit. Didn't you say you were going to hold off making any comments until there was more information? So what you doing here? Wanting everybody else to do what you want but you can't follow your own suggestion. Hmmmm.
