What's Your Favorite Quote?

Maybe not thread intend but it is a great line and I am quoting it.

"Will wealthy Democrats back Webb? No. They can forgive populist rhetoric if they know it’s insincere, but they can’t be sure that Webb doesn’t mean what he says."

The first to apologize is the bravest
The first to forgive is the strongest
The first to forget is the HAPPIEST!

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

I can't recall who told me this first but if was likely my Father:

"If it's got wheels or a skirt on it, it's going to give you trouble."

In my limited experience on the surface of this planet that seems to have proven true many times over. B)

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

Okay, not an exact quote, but very close, by Kahlil Gibran.

"They deem me mad because I will not sell my days for gold.
I deem them mad because they think my days have a price."

And, maybe from "Illusions" or maybe from somewhere else...

"You are exactly where you want to be."

I understand this quote from Omar Khayyam was misinterpreted but love it anyway (the topic is a bit too broad for me personally, as it is impossible to choose! except in a per-circumstance, maybe?).

The moving Finger writes
And having writ, moves on.
And all thy piety and wit
Shall alter not a word of it!
Not all thy tears wash out
A single line.

Then there was my Mom (saying the same thing): Life is what you make it.

The purpose of life is not to be happy.
It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool--shun him.
He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child--teach him.
He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep--wake him.
He who knows, and knows that he knows, is a wise man--follow him.
