Reports from travelers this morning:
Martin A 6am
Conifer to 470. 550-605 (ish)

Average speed 40-55

Roads are still decently warm creating some slush and icy spots. No lane recognition.

2 plows headed southbound by fire station homestead area.

Rtd bus in rt lane in Canyon south bound by big dirt pile/turn off

Cdot has 2 pick up trucks running up and down looking for accidents and stuck vehicles etc

Zachary A 5:35sm
Drove from pleasant park to golden starting at 430. Everything is snow packed and it looks like the plows haven’t been out since last night. Nothing was very slick for me but I was definitely driving at a reduced speed. One semi in the canyon appeared to be stopped south bound and all the cars off the road were from last night. So take it easy give yourself extra time and it will be ok.

Travis L 5:15am
The canyon was very slick ice and slushy. I never lied and I got a loose a couple of times going 35m

Karen E 3:15am
2:30AM Pine Junction to Conifer

It was a nice few days of no snow for my commute, but back to March in Colorado.

Roads are icy. Not as bad as I expected, but they are icy so drive accordingly! It was lightly snowing the whole way.

PJ to the Kum & Go good lane recognition. The hill just past Shaffer's Crossing is slick and there is a semi going NB that can't make it up the hill in the right lane.

After the Kum & Go to Conifer there isn't much lane recognition, but it's not horrible either.

Off ramps have snow in front of them and the turns are slick.

I didn't have any issues, but I did take my time as driving in this stuff is not my favorite thing to do.

Have a good day & drive safe!

Just drove bailey to Denver. 285 snow packed, shaffers crossing is icy so take it slow! Windy point and the canyon are the same. Canyon is more slushy then snowpacked but don't let it fool you! Rtd bus seems to be stuck on other side going up the canyon. Drive safe everyone!

Per 285 Travelers:
Anita L 6:27am
285 is a disaster. 3 inches of snow (snow/ice/slush) Pine Junction on. No plows have been out. Stay home if you can!

Travis M 6:03am
Do not travel 285 between trout creek and Kenosha. Entirely unplowed. Talked to a CDOT worker and two plows are off the road. I only saw ine plow out.

Clif B
Good morning folks, Happy moms day to you moms. Shelton and 43 are sloppier than a soup sandwich this morning ( lots of analogies of sloppy this one is rated G) lots of slush. 285 is slushy till about Pine junction then just wet. As of 5am it's raining in Evergreen. Have a fantastic Sunday.

285 in bailey is a mess past deer creek towards conifer. Already saw one spin out and tbone.

Our 4wd car couldn't stay in the lines. The slush sucks your tires in, combine that with traction control and it's really hard to control your car.

Debbie C 8:45am
43 is a mess, deep snow . Cars turning around crossing deer creek going up hill.

Karen E 8:25am
8:00 Pine Junction to Conifer

Side roads are awful. It's not slick, just that deep slush that sucks you into the direction you don't want to go.

There are plows out on 285, but depending on where you are there are patches of deep yuck.

Richmond Hill to Foxton is really slushy and nasty.

If I didn't have to go to work I would not be out. Be safe. Have a nice day!

Pammie D 8am
Windy point to c470 just wet. Conifer aspen park snow packed slush and very icy. Be careful

Michelle T 8am
6:30am - 7:30am--Tried to go from Buffalo Creek to Pine Junction. Had to abort the mission and turned around 1/2 way there. 126 is terrible, slush, ice, snow.

Sarah G 8am
8am - conifer Mtn /kennedy gulch not plowed. Deep thick slushy snow.

840am -938am. Will o wisp to Denver West exit 264. The worst part of the drive was from will o wisp to Pine Junction to be honest. Once into Jeffco the roads were more clear and a little slushy. It all converted to rain at Safeway in conifer and it was heavier rain which decreased on the drive down the mountain.Roads were just wet from conifer to denver where it is lighter rain as I write this at my destinstion. Driving a Volvo AWD wagon.

Trip from Bailey to Conifer and back. They’re cleaning up the arrow sign in the left lane of southbound near the Foxton exit. The plows are out but there is standing water in places to be aware of. Definitely better on the way back. That is until you cross over into Park County. There’s slush from turn outs across the road and single lanes where there’s usually two and still a ton of slush.

Caitlin C 10:40am
There’s a truck facing the wrong way on the southbound side across from O Malleys or whatever it’s called now (CSP was present) and we just saw a plow plowing both southbound lanes north of Richmond hill.

Welcome to the first snow of the season impacting the commute! Here’s what your fellow travelers have reported:

Lia A 1hr ago
0450 Pine Junction to 470 took about 35 minutes. Poor Lane recognition. Slippery coming up Richmond Hill, otherwise generally snowpacked. Still snowing. Be safe!

Kassie G 1hr ago
Left at 430a
Conifer mountain/kennedy gulch wasn’t plowed yet. 285 northbound to 470. 285 was plowed, mostly snowpacked, areas of occasional pavement showing, canyon turns more slushy and turns just wet shortly before 470. 470 (I only took it to Bowles) was just wet. Slower going but I didn’t have any issues or slipping, still snowing pretty good.

Jordan R 1hr ago
Has anyone driven high grade road/deer creek canyon from pleasant park to Littleton?

*update* just drove down 6:30 AM, around those beginning curves it’s still pretty snowy and slushy but I didn’t slip or slide at all going slow. By the time you get to around Ken Caryl area it’s only wet.

Clif B 1hr ago
Good morning fellow thrill seekers. Shelton and 43 are unplowed and have patchy slick spots, 285 is not horrible partially snowpacked in some spots there is a car stalled or stuck on the north side of shaffers crossing its up against the guard rail .73 is unplowed do not follow the wagon tracks cause there on the wrong side of the road today is the meeting of the folks wondering if there tires will get through another season. have a fantastic day

Karen E 2hr ago
4:15am. PJ to Conifer

I was nervous about the drive this morning as I don't have my snow tires yet (have had an appointment for several weeks).

The drive was not as bad as I expected. I went slow and steady and had no issues slipping or sliding. Watch out for an abandoned Tesla right past Shaffer's Crossing. They are off the road, but sticking out slightly into the right lane. There was a single truck accident right before Foxton and the Sheriff was there when I came through. Both were NB. Plows are out.

Drive safe everyone and have a good day!

Per travelers this morning:
Lydia N 5:34am
My husband called at 5:22 a.m. Two trucks jack knifed on road (I think Deer Creek) so he had to take Hwy 285.
That's his usual route to work. We lost signal before I could confirm road.

Ryan T 5:27am
Pine junction light is flashing red. 4 way stop and roads are ice.

Stephanie J 5:20am
Just heard from husband who left Pine Junction for Merino at 3:30 this morning. He don’t see a single plow along the way and said it was a mess. He slid a few times between the Richmond Hill overpass and Snowpack. There are a lot of icy spots throughout the entire commute from low temps last night that were covered with snow. He kept his speed under 30 the whole way and expected it to improve but it didn’t. He finally saw one plow on I-76 around 4:45. Roads in town weren’t great either.

Tom F 4:30am
Just drove from Morrison to Aspen Park and both directions of 285 are open but very icy and snow packed. Snow tires and four wheel drive recommended

Pammie D 4:30am
3:50 am. Truck in right lane windy point northbound go slow and steady. Roads some what plowed.

Hubby driving northbound 285 from Richmond Hill. Go slow. Plowed somewhat. There is vehicles /truck in right lane at windy point. He is in a Nissan Juke and doing good. Just go slow. He had made it to c470. Slow and steady.

Marcie C 4:30am
Just drove up from Golden, it was plowed but slow going. Little lane recognition

Kim H 4:30am
Drove from 43 to King Soopers, Slow. And steady gets you there. Plows are out. The snow is coming down pretty good. It is not star wars snow. So your visibility is not horrible. Stay safe!

Vince S 1:30am
Whew ok, just got home Richmond Hill from downtown Denver. Went 70 to evergreen and you know the way. It's getting deep but 4x4 and slow is ok.

Kip G 1:30am
Just made it home to Bailey from Englewood in about 90 minutes. Went up Deer Creek Canyon and it was mostly unplowed and slick. But my 4Runner and BFG KO2's Rock! After Conifer it's just snow packed. Stay Safe.

Nicole B 6:21am
Side streets not plowed at all. Second pic is Hwy 73 and Barkley. Plowed but a sheet of ice underneath very slick. Drive slow. Tires slipped once. I have awd.

Natalie C 6:18am
Just got down the hill from Bailey. Road conditions are extremely icy and still actively snowing. I did see some plows out. There was a bus to the side of the road as well as many cars and a few semis.

Stephanie E 5:53am
285 to Denver getting plowed right now @0550. Currently at Windy Point.
Snowpacked and slippery. Poor visibility.

Be safe and take your time.

Clif B 5:50am
Good morning everyone Shelton and 43 are snowpacked watch the S curve before 43 or it's short cut time, 285 is snowpacked with little lane recognition and it seems everyone is running late cause yikes. 73 is plowed up to Blue creek then not so much its kinda slickery this morning so be careful the closer to town the more snow. Evergreen has about 6 inches and still coming down hard. The plows are out and about.
