Since this site is so new, it might be fun to post some "get to know each other posts". Here are five fairly random items that might help us learn a little more about each other. Answer as many as you feel comfortable with.
1. What's your gender and age group?
2. Do you live in the 285 corridor? How long?
3. Favorite sport or reacreational activity? (particpatory not spectator).
4. What one thing would make living in the mountains even better than it already is?
5. What is your main reason for participating in local online discussion forums?
I'll go first.
1. Female. Over 50 is all I'll admit to. :Whistle
2. I've lived in the 285 area for more than 15 years.
3. I love camping, easy hiking (bad knees), 'shrooming and foraging, cooking, reading, and knitting socks.
4. Some of my oldest friends have recently moved away or passed away. I'd like to enlarge my circle of friends here in the mountains.
5. To me it's very fun to see what my neighbors are thinking and doing. And of course, there is nothing more vital than having direct information when anything happens that directly impacts our community, like the fires of a few years back or the Platte Canyon High school shootings.

1. Male, mid 40's.

3. Hiking and cruising FS roads in my Jeep.
4. Less pollen. My allergies are starting to go nuts.
5. Entertainment value and occasional high altitude advice.

Hi Aspen Valley - good idea for a new topic OK I will go next...

2. Do you live in the 285 corridor? How long?
3. Favorite sport or recreational activity? (participatory not spectator).

I am female, over 50 and retired (notice I had to copy out the questions as I suffer from CRS (can’t remember *poo)
I live in Conifer and we have been here a very short time 3-years.
I love walking with my dogs in the parks, on the trails, they love to go and wade in the river and lake etc. I read (junk novels as my grandma called them sci-fi, murder, legal, not too much of a romance reader), play computer games and volunteer to support animal rescue groups.
Nothing, I love the mountains just the way they are. The people I have met are all really nice. I even enjoy our weather.
I use the forums mostly to help lost/found pets connect back to their families. I send ems to my contacts to get the word out and hopefully to find everyone their way home. I love to read and lurk but sometimes I am too shy to jump on in. I am getting better and posting in more forums.
1. Male. Not older than dirt, but pushing it
2. Nope, I'm stuck in the 'better part' of the flatlands.
3. Fishing and ham radio. If you don't think ham radio is a recreational activity, join us in public service communications at parades and races
4. If I were living there!
5. Got involved in helping to provide information during the summer of '02, and got hooked. It is addictive! lol
Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again - Jeanne Pincha-Tulley
Comprehensive is Latin for there is lots of bad stuff in it - Trey Gowdy
1. Male over 50
2. In Conifer for almost 3 years, in the corridor for about 20 years now.
3. Hiking, listening to & occasionally making music. Playing with my critters.
4. I'd like it if someone would plow my road for me in the winter!
5. Started out just watching the weather here, but have gotten sucked into a few
different forums. Great for keeping up with community events. Traffic scanner
has helped me out a few times. Just nice getting to know some of my "neighbors".

1. Female. 30's
2. Have lived along the 285 corridor now for 10 years.
3. I enjoy hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and would like to do more travel.
4. I can't think of anything that would make mountain life better.
Male, late 50's and getting later
lived up here for over 12 years
Dogs, cooking, TV(winters can be long), and try to get out and hike
One summer without construction on 285, also more restaurants that stay in business
I was amazed at the potential good these community sites can provide people in smaller towns. I would like to see every small town in America have this benefit. Plus it is fun most of the time
Female, old enough to know better.
Lived up here around 15 years.
Joined this site because I was held at gun point to do so, just kidding, where's your sense of humor?
