It’s in Transit

Today's Scripture

“I will answer them before they even call to me.” Isaiah 65:24, NLT

Don’t ever put God in a box. Quit worrying because you don’t see any way something can happen. Perhaps you don’t have the finances, the medical report is not good, or you don’t know the right people to help you. As far as you can see, there’s no chance. God knew what you’d need long before you had the need. He has ways to make it happen that you’ve never thought of, and He knows how to get it to you. He has answers on the way before you have asked. If you could see all the things that are already in transit for you right now, you wouldn’t worry. You wouldn’t live wondering if it’s going to happen, frustrated because you didn’t get what you were hoping for. When it’s your set time on God’s timetable, it’s coming to you. Quit worrying. Get up every morning with the expectancy that it’s in transit. God may not bring you what you thought or in the way you thought, but what He has will be bigger, better, and more rewarding than you ever imagined.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that before I even ask You for my needs and desires, You’ve already lined them up and have them headed my way. Thank You for the people, the favor, and the promotion You’ve ordained to come across my path. I believe that even now answers to my prayers are on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Who Names You?

Today's Scripture

You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow. Isaiah 62:2, NIV

There are a lot of negative names that the enemy would like to give you—average, not talented, not good enough, unattractive, inferior, washed up, a victim. From an early age, he’ll try to change your name through disappointments, through people who try to push you down, through your own mistakes and failures. But when you learn to change your name back to who you were created to be, to who God calls you, all the forces of darkness cannot stop you.

Let your Heavenly Father name you—not people, not mistakes, not your past. He calls you exceptional, redeemed, and forgiven. He calls you healthy and free. He calls you one of a kind, a history maker, a giant killer. He calls you a son of strength, a daughter of destiny. Your new name is blessed, prosperous, confident, well able, and victorious. Your name is a child of the Most High God. Now you have to do your part and get in agreement with God. Let what He names you override all the other names. Keep calling yourself what God calls you.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You alone have the right to name me. Thank You that what You name me overrides all the other names I’ve been called and all the mistakes of my past. I will call myself what You call me and become who You say I am. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Permission to Be Happy

Today's Scripture

Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always). 1 Thessalonians 5:16, AMPC

The apostle Paul says we should be glad-hearted, always happy in the faith. He didn’t say anything about our circumstances. He says to be happy whether people treat you right or not, whether your plans work out or not, whether you have many disappointments or none. He was saying to get in a habit of thinking joyful thoughts. Don’t let the negative circumstances talk you out of living happy.

But you have to give yourself permission to be happy. Sometimes we’ve bought into the lie that we’re not supposed to be happy. We’ve been through too much and have made too many mistakes. If we’re happy, we think that other people may not understand. But God created you to enjoy your life, to laugh and smile. Happiness starts inside. Give God something to work with. If you want to live happier and healthier, every morning you need to say to yourself, “I’m blessed. I’m grateful. I will be happy.” You can’t receive happiness if you’re thinking sadness. Joy is coming every morning. You will live happier if you start thinking happier.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that I can be glad-hearted and rejoice in all circumstances today because You are always in control. Thank You that You created me to enjoy my life and to be blessed and happy. I am going to keep a song of praise in my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

The Promise Keeper

Today's Scripture

“Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.” 2 Samuel 7:16, NIV

Do you ever wonder how faithful God is to keep His promises to you? In today’s Scripture, God promised David that one of his descendants would always be on the throne of Israel. Over three hundred years later, one of David’s relatives, King Hezekiah, and his throne were in great danger. An overwhelming army had surrounded Jerusalem, and there was no way out. But at the last minute, God sent an angel who destroyed 185,000 enemy troops, and the people were saved. God explained to Hezekiah why He did it. He said, “David’s been in the grave for three hundred years, but I made that promise to him about his throne. I always keep My promises.”

Maybe you’re standing on a promise and it hasn’t come to pass yet. Don’t worry. If God will go to such great lengths to keep His promises to a man who’s dead, how much more will He keep His promise to you. Stay in faith, keep reminding Him what He promised, and keep thanking Him that it’s on the way. You’re about to see God show out in your life.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You promised You would do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond what I can imagine. Thank You that You have never failed to be true to Your Word and fulfill Your promises. I believe You are about to show out in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

No More Forever

Today's Scripture

Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.” Exodus 14:13, NKJV

After Pharaoh finally let the two million Israelite slaves leave for the Promised Land, he soon changed his mind and came chasing after them. The Israelites reached a dead end at the Red Sea, but just because you run out of options doesn’t mean God has run out of options. God parted the water and the Israelites went through on dry ground. When the enemy came chasing after them, they were all drowned. The Israelites saw those enemies no more.

You may have situations that look as though they’ll never change. God is saying to you what He said to them. You’re about to see the depression no more. You’re about to see that struggle in your finances no more. God is about to release you into abundance. You might as well have a going-away party for the sickness that’s been hindering you. God is doing a new thing. Now keep this tenacity in your spirit. Be more stubborn in your faith than anything stubborn that’s trying to stop you. You are well able to outlast what’s trying to stop you.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You have broken the chain of any negative thing from my past that’s trying to hold me back. Thank You that You have so defeated the problem that I’m not even going to see it anymore. I’m going to start living like I am free and experience everything You have for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Cover Your Heart

Today's Scripture

So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God’s approval as your breastplate. Ephesians 6:14, GW

No matter how you feel every morning, no matter how many mistakes you made yesterday or how many weaknesses you’re dealing with now, you need to put on the breastplate of God’s approval. “God, thank You that You approve me, that You accept me, that You love me.” When you put on that approval, chains of insecurity, low self-esteem, condemnation, and guilt are broken. There’s a freedom when you know you’ve been approved by God. You are the apple of His eye. He created you in His own image. Don’t go through life feeling wrong inside. You’re not a finished product. God is still working on you. He doesn’t say, “I’ll approve you when you perform perfectly.” God approves you right where you are. He may not approve what you did, but that’s not who you are. He approves you. You don’t have to work to try to gain God’s approval. You already have it by His grace.

You have to shake off the disapproval and remind yourself, “I’ve been approved by the One who matters most. God is pleased with me.”

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that I can put on the breastplate of Your approval to cover my heart because You have made me righteous through Christ Jesus. Thank You that I can shake off the disapproval and feel good about who I am. I believe that You are pleased with me today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Something Far Greater

Today's Scripture

So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning. Ruth 1:22, NIV

Life had been good for Naomi in the land of Moab, but then her husband died. Ten years later, both her sons died. Both she and her widowed daughter-in-law, Ruth, were left heartbroken and very poor. Naomi decided to move back to her hometown of Bethlehem, and Ruth went with her. You can imagine how devastated they were, but God was doing things they couldn’t see right then. He was getting them back to Bethlehem so that Ruth would meet a man named Boaz who was very influential and wealthy. This was a part of God’s divine plan. Ruth ended up marrying Boaz. They had a son named Obed, who had a son named Jesse, who had a son named David, through whose lineage Jesus was born. The disappointment was all a setup for something far greater.

When we isolate a loss or a door that closed by itself, it’s not fair. But when we understand that God works generationally, we step into generational blessings. We see things that were orchestrated long before that catapult us into our destiny.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You know best when it comes to the difficulties that come into my life. Thank You that Your sovereign plans are always so much more fulfilling and bigger than my plan. I declare that You are in control, and I believe that something big is coming my way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

It’s the Small Things

Today's Scripture

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men. Colossians 3:23, NKJV

It’s not always the big things that are keeping us from God’s best; it’s the small things. If we aren’t showing respect and honoring our spouse by doing a small thing that’s important to them, that small thing will keep you from your greatness. You can’t be harsh, contentious, and hard to get along with and reach your potential. Sometimes it involves things we don’t feel like doing, something that doesn’t seem fair. At work, you’re not getting credit or someone is not treating you right. Why should you be kind to them, keep a good attitude, and go the extra mile? God is saying, “Will you do it as unto Me? Will you keep your mouth closed for Me? Will you be kind to that undeserving person for Me? Will you be your best at work for Me?” Do it as unto God. He’s the One who matters. Promotion doesn’t come from people; it comes from Him. When you do the right thing when it’s hard, you’re passing the test. You’re going to go to levels that you’ve never imagined.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for calling me to be a person of excellence in everything I do, to go the second mile and always be my best. I want being my best to flow out of my heart of love for You. I believe that as I give it my all, I will see Your goodness and favor in my life in new ways. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Stand Out

Today's Scripture

When [Joseph’s] master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did…Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.Genesis 39:3–4, NIV

Because there was a blessing on Joseph’s life, he went from being an unnoticed, insignificant slave to being the favorite. Potiphar was so impressed he put Joseph in charge of his household. That’s the power of the blessing. When people try to push you down, it causes you to rise up. When people try to discount you, it causes you to be noticed. There were other people working for Potiphar who had more seniority, more training, and more experience, but the blessing on Joseph’s life caused him to stand out.

People may not recognize you yet. Your boss doesn’t give you credit. Relatives discount you and think you don’t have much to offer. You may be overlooked now, but the time is coming where you’re going to be noticed. Keep doing the right thing, honoring God, being your best. People are going to recognize your value, your gifts, your talents. God is going to cause you to stand out. You’re going to go from being unnoticed to being in charge, from being not recognized to being the favorite. That’s the blessing on your life.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You for the gifts and talents that You have given me. Thank You for calling me to keep developing my skills and being my best in whatever I do. I choose to walk in Your blessing no matter what my situation is, knowing You are causing me to rise to the top. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Forgive Yourself

Today's Scripture

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.1 John 1:9, NIV

We have all sinned, made mistakes, done things that we’re not proud of. We know that God has forgiven us, but too often we keep reliving our failures, replaying our mistakes, thinking about the times we haven’t measured up. All that’s doing is making you feel more guilty, more condemned. God is not judging you because you haven’t performed perfectly. Don’t go around thinking about everything you’ve done wrong and beating yourself up over it. You have to do something important, and that’s to forgive yourself. You have enough people in life against you. Don’t be against yourself. If God has forgiven you, why don’t you let it go?

Don’t be defined by your mistakes. Don’t let what you’ve been through taint the rest of your life. You can’t change what’s behind you, but you can do something about what’s in front of you. You have to take off the negative labels and thoughts—divorced, addicted, compromiser, failure, loser, doubter—and put on what God says about you—forgiven, cleansed, redeemed, restored, a new creation, a child of the Most High God.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that when I sin and make mistakes that Your mercy covers me. Thank You that You forgive and forget my sins the moment that I ask You. I am saying goodbye to the guilt and the shame of the past and believing You have something awesome in my future. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
