BAILEY - A Park County Sheriff's Deputy who was recently demoted for throwing a party where a minor got drunk has been in trouble with his department before.

Deputy Glenn Hardey was demoted from sergeant to corporal in March for violating his department's code of ethics.

9NEWS has learned Hardey had been demoted three years prior for something similar.

"It was for something inappropriate," Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener said. "It did not involve a minor though".

The most recent incident involving Deputy Hardey happened on December 27, 2010. Hardey threw a party at his house and invited several Park County deputies.

Was it your kid at Deputy Hardey's house that night VL.
Way to go 285bounders for getting this story out there.
Way to go Channel 9 for reporting it. They are now my official news source.

thank you becky. tooks the words right out of my mouth. channel 9 has been and will continue to be my official news source. but i will write them and let them know that and will make sure to tell them on 9 wants to know any news tips first.

thank you 285bounders for what you did.

amazing that hardey continues in the department. he has done so many underhanded things that have been reported to the district attorneys office that hasn't hit the news. goes to show just how bad sheriff wegener is when he allows crap to continue until they get caught. wegener, gore down to hardey are an embarrassment to this community and should be fired.

Thank god there was finally a story with some facts behind it and serious news story. There have been a few serious people (before 285bound existed) trying to get Denver news involved in these problems for a long time. But all of the false stuff kept them from wanting to get too close to it. I don't know if 285bound helped get this story noticed, but I heard that one media person said they felt like they were chasing a UFO story over the last year with all of the wild conspiracy theories that had nothing to back them up. So, the Flume gets credit for pursuing an actual story with facts and turning it into something serious. The other wild crap just slowed the whole process down for a year. Sometimes getting overzealous moves you further from your goal. It's fine to suspect bad stuff going on. But if you can't prove it, pretending it's fact just makes you look like a nut and drives people away. That whole business at the school board meeting with the false charges really moved people away from the story. What a disaster that was.

I thought that was against the rules to guess wildly? I could say "there you go again with stupid baseless accusations". Anyway, if I were Glenn, I'd be looking for none of this to be covered, not advising you how to do better at getting things reported. Then again, logic isn't the strong suit with the most guilty of you that I was referring to. I'm mad that the reporting couldn't be picked up a year ago because you nuts scared serious news people off. Reality check - you can't read?

(Edited - forgot to put the quote in. I was warned you have to do that with Becky's stuff.)

It's not just this event, it's the past bad behavior and attempted coverups that really get people fired up. It's good that this came out because it will cause someone to look at the big picture.

I'm worried about police brutality, the manufacturing of evidence, and giving out too many speeding tickets, not about this kind of thing, but yes, youre right, transparency is always good.
