Oh, this is going to be a lot more costly than what terrorists have done. But I'm sure the right-wing think tanks are even now spinning this all to be the Dems fault. Talking points should be popping up any time now.....

I think there is blame on both sides, because the Dems could have been willing to cut more entitlement spending then they did, but I am willing to bet that the absolute refusal of the right to consider tax increases is definitely a huge part of the reason they took action. Not to mention their crazy-ass, "let's hang the country over a cliff by its wrists rather than agree to one cent of increased taxes" behavior. Financial institutions do not look kindly at stupidity like that because it does not bode well for solving the actual problem.

Hanging this one on the very people who tried to get our Nation to get serious about the debt is about as wrong as it gets. I just don't see it. If anything, it was the insistence of those on the left to "forget about the debt for now" that put us in this pickle. But people will believe what they want to believe. You are funny VL but intellectually dishonest in this post.

I believe that President Obama is now officially a one-term president. He and his band of merry men and women can try to flick this booger on someone else...but he and his liberal base own this trophy.

There is a silver lining though. After these Keystone Cops America won't put a crazy liberal in office for at least 12 years. My only hope is that there IS a nation to lead by 2012. God help us.....the inmates are running the asylum. :faint:

Really? I disagree..We gotta cut 100 things before we touch SS and Medicare, are you kidding?..Do we need the DEA, ATF, FBI, CIA, NSA, TSA, Homeland security and a defense budget that equals the rest of the worlds combined!? Do we?..I'm amazed how they got smart people to say: "the Dems could have been willing to cut more entitlement spending". Unreal, and read the S&P report. It blames everything on the debacle over the debt ceiling, they stated they are pessamistic about our government ability to govern in the future and all that blame lies squarly at the feet of the Hostage takers..Not the hostages!

Read the S&P's report- It blames republicans

I will when I unwind a bit. I'm one of those folks who has to work. It's pesky and all...but hell, someone has to work so we can fund this debacle.

I can't see how anyone can hang this on the Tea Party though.........but I'll read the article anyway.

I just read it. It's not in a place I can cut and paste here but the jist of it is they are very concerned with the fact that Congress wasn't able to agree to more cuts in expenditures nor agree to ANY increases in revenues, ie, taxes. Basically they are saying the debt can't be paid off under the current plan. I agree, it can't.

I honestly haven't read the report yet but seriously...how does what you just cited translate to "those crazy Tea Party folks"? Or is this a matter of people seeing or reading what they want to see or read?

I admit that we are ALL at fault..but this constant drive to hang it all on the Tea Party is getting pretty lame.
