The unemployment rate in Texas is far below the national average......those folks actually have jobs.
I think Perry has done a good job looking out for the best interest of his state.

Managed to 'hang on" to more than we have here? How so? If you mean because of state income taxes, yep they're lower there. But I personally wouldn't want to be paying $7500 a year in property taxes the way a friend of mine in Fort Worth does on a $125,000 house.

The Texas unemployment rate is below the national average, but it's far from being the lowest in the nation. And the jobs they have don't look that admirable to me, either, as the per capita income is well BELOW that national average. Also above the national average....number on food stamps and some other welfare entitlements. Add to that some fairly serious bad markers in health, like rates of high blood pressure, obesity, and infant mortality....

I'm just not that impressed.

Not sure where you hear that but most all the people I know who live there love him. He is not perfect but no candidate is and he sure blows away Obama in ALL areas.

I just spent 8 months there. Heard it everywhere. One thing I will say on his behalf is that the Texas economy is not near in the state the CO. economy is. From my perspective as a business person....he has done a decent job in Texas.

Yes but for people who say this, I know they didn't talk to 51% of the state. So even if you have hundreds of people you hear it from that is nothing in a state of tens of millions. 54% approve of him there. So the majority like him

Just curious....what exactly do you find wrong with Texas as a whole?

I find the people there to be pretty independent in their thinking. They are pretty well educated and have a boat load more money right now than any of us do.
I just hate it when I see a broad brush painted across an entire group of people simply because of geography.

If they seceede none of their politicians will be eligible to run for President. The people of Texas may be "okay", but I am not an admirer of their politicos.

Nor the idea that having a "boatload more money than the rest of us" somehow makes them admirable.

Why do you keep bringing up the Seceding? Have you not read the whole thing. It was never seriously discussed. You are sounding like an uneducated parrot as you keep repeating the same thing over and over that was never an issue.

There is an article out there that if it weren't for almost a million people leaving other states coming there, the unemployment would be 5.5%. That state had the most people move to it by far! So those numbers are highly inflated due to the huge population increase.

Because rhetoric matters Viking! Look what happened , they down grade the U.S. and people pour their money into Gov. backed securities. What even nitwits (in power) say matters. Perry is a loop of the worst variety, stay away, it is the last thing this country needs.

When someone thinks that you can fix the economy and the weather by prayer alone, they are the definition of a "LOOP"

You must be reading the enquier. Where was that ever stated? And he fixed the economy though tax breaks, fewer regulations and by creeating the most jobs in the country.
