Perhaps it comes down to reaching dreams? Some people dream and work like crazy to accomplish those dreams, whereas others dream but are content with mediocrity. Forgotten in all this is that successful people often have many years of sacrifice to realize the eventual payoff, for which you get penalized... for being successful. I've no problem paying taxes, but I'd prefer everyone paid a flat tax, so those content with mediocrity can remain where they are and those who work and reach their dreams are not beaten down for it.
Let's face it. If I'm going to be a philanthropist, I want the control over who gets my hard-earned money. Unlike the government, I'll make sure those contributions have maximum impact. It's taken me a lifetime to reach the success I enjoy today and I do not enjoy working half the year to support failing government programs not only in the US but overseas as well. Yes, between foreign and domestic taxes I have the privilege of working about 40 % of the year for everyone else and that sucks plain and simple. All things considered, I'm fortunate I can still work and have a skill that is in demand.
So, if I'm reading that right, you believe that people who have reached that plateau of higher tax burden have actually worked harder than the rest? Everyone else is just a lazy ass "content with mediocrity"? You sir are an arrogant ass.

They might not have worked harder, but they definitely worked smarter - they got paid more for it.

RT-the fallacy of your logic is that you think the money you earn through your blood, sweat and tears is actually YOUR money. The sooner you accept the fact that, under the new socialist agenda, the money you earn is everyone's money the sooner you will pack your lunch box up every morning and head off happily to another day of toil so you can support the one who is "sleeping in". NO need to question how others piss your money away.
Get with the program MAN! Shut up and color! :faint:
The real solution is to make enough to retire. Whenever you do that, be it when you're 20, 30, 40, 60, etc,. ensure that you have enough stored away to live on, and then quit doing what you're doing, and quit being so successful.
Once you've got yours, and you are prepared for the rest of your life, (and enrich your family's lives with it), just quit, stop. Let somebody else be successful and pay the government. If you honestly feel like it's a punishment, stop buying into it.
It's the best way to stop feeling like the government is taking your money. You'll still get taxed, but you won't have to work as hard to have them steal your money!

Typical Socialist/Marxist response. It says everything about you.

Yeah....I must be a socialists/marxist because I think people should be happy about being successful in this economy, not coming on a message board to whine and cry about how much taxes they had to pay while their neighbors are struggling just to get by. Sorry I can't summon a whole lot of sympathy for RT.

KMA....you're a rude busy body.
It's taken me 3 F'n years to get to the point I am making decent income. I don't need some two bit nanny milking my social security contributions to tell me to suck it up because I am lucky. I have worked my @$$ off - and then to have the government take (or should I say confiscate) a significant chunk of my income sucks. But don't worry, I will gladly give up my production of dollars to Uncle Sam so he can sprinkle it around the country - in the meantime, I'll continue bust my hump so the government can buy solar panels and invest into a bankrupt laden industry.
