And I make a point to let businesses know that if I see an open-carry weapon in their place of business, I will not be coming into their place of business again. Care to guess what the percentage is of people who choose to stop doing business with a merchant because OF it, as opposed to those who carry who say they refuse to because of the absence of it?

I certainly have a list of businesses and products I refuse to give my money to. (By the way, whatever happened to "Scrapple" ice tea?... I know they're still around, but their sales have never rebounded from the boycott they endured from their association with Limbaugh.) I don't buy Dominoe's pizza, I don't do CFA anymore; Michael's, Wendy's... I have a list of about 50-60 businesses I no longer shop with.

So, I guess that makes us even...

Here's the press release from Vante announcing that Smith is "no longer an employee of our company," effective immediately:

TUCSON, AZ--(Marketwire - Aug 2, 2012) - The following is a statement from Vante:

Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.

The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.

We hope that the general population does not hold Mr. Smith's actions against Vante and its employees.

The victim at the window deserves a medal for putting up with that BS while maintaining her dignity and acting with class.

But wait, I thought earlier you guys SUPPORTED the right of a businessman to express his personal opinion.... :Whistle

The owner of the business did express their opinion on the actions of their employee as it pertained to the reputation of their business Raees - and I fully support their right to do so. You have the freedom to express yourself, no one prevented this hate-filled idiot from expressing his opinion, but that doesn't mean you get to spew such hate without consequences. No such thing as a free lunch (or free contraception, or free office visits) after all, right? I'm guessing that the rest of us now get to support him for the next 99 weeks as a consequence of his poor decision. Perhaps it might be worthwhile investigating new legislation which makes employees purchase unemployment insurance or be taxed for failing to do so in order to prevent the cost from being shifted onto the rest of us when someone makes such a foolish decision.

They are still around. Doing fine. They didn't suffer any long term effect from the boycott. The did have a lawsuit regarding their "all natural" claim, and that hurt them. They are owned by Dr. Pepper now.

Nothing to do with Limbaugh...

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

So many things wrong with your post..

First of all, you don't get unemployment if you are fired.

Second, the guy never mentioned his company. He was not at the company that employed him. Where's HIS right to express his opinion? You guys said the Chick-fil-A owner had a right to his opinion. If we can get fired for expressing our opinions away from work, we're all in trouble.

That said, I thought the guy was an idiot for recording and posting the video. I thought the drive-in clerk handled herself really well and I bet she gets some better job offers as a result.

National Starbucks Appreciation Day Planned To Support Gay Marriage

Chick-Fil-A "Kiss-In" Protests Planned Today...

Golly... I don't think one day of ditto-head/right-wing-Christian appreciation is going to turn around the P.R. debacle that they've created... :Whistle

I do support the right to express your personal opinion although I'd say what that guy did borders on harassment. I just think it's dumb to boycott a company because of what the owner thinks, and even dumber to do what that bully did.

So far as his company firing him goes, that's up to them. Someone who is a jerk like that in public probably has shown similar behavior at work. I think Arizona is a free will employment state, though I wouldn't be surprised if the idiot were to try to sue them.

LJ you are welcome to complain about open carry to any business you want. If they take action- I'll come along and see the posted No Carry sign- and I'll report it on the RMGO website, and you can bet they will start to get calls from gun owners.

Incidentally, I did a search within 10 miles of 80439 (Evergreen) and 80433 (Conifer) and only one business appears on their list- Bandimere Speedway.

So let me know OK LJ? let me know if you are aware of any other businesses.

Can you post the complete list of businesses you won't step foot in. I want to make sure I visit those businesses. It would be a relief that I could be sure of not running into your nasty ass.

Waiting for Armageddon since 33 AD
